PaulTBaker
Is it possible to use a computer to create folder on a microSD card, drag multiple .wav files in it and THEN insert the card into the Helix? Will the Helix see the new files as individual songs? Or do I have to use the helix to add one song at a time? I wanted to have copies of our songs on the helix so at practice I could pull it up if we needed it. I know there are a million ways to do this with something else, just wanted to use the Helix. I also think I could do this one song at a time, however, I was hoping I could load the songs in bulk. Thanks.
silverhead
My understanding is that Song data is distributed across both the SD card and the device memory. The SD card holds the audio while the device holds non-audio Song data like flags, markers, tempo, etc. This non-audio Song data only exists on the SD card as part of a system backup and it can't be addressed on its own in the backup file. It's the action in the app where the Song (one or more wav files) is transferred to the device that actually instantiates a 'Song' in the Stadium. That's when the wav files are created on the SD card and indexed/integrated with the Song's non-audio data. Individual extraneous wav files on the SD card do not constitute a Song in Stadium terms. They're just random files on the SD card that the Stadium ignores. Again, that's my understanding. So I think the answer to your question is No.

While you could do many things from the PC side, it is very doubtful the Helix Stadium would actually see the songs on demand. The reason the Stadium needs to format any SD Card you want to use is that it creates two very specific partitions on the SD Card, like having a C: and D: set of drives setup on a single hard drive. Then it creates the folders and assigns specific read/write properties. And you question makes me wonder, does the Showcase feature compress the files when added within the Stadium App? That would add one more piece to the puzzle. I will have to slow down my thinking because I am a "hmm, lets try it and see" kind of guy and that has gotten me into trouble a few times. :-) I have a question concerning the looperDAT.dat file and I will ask this question once i get one more response from tech support. jpd
PaulTBaker
thank you all for your response. Silv, that makes sense... I was just trying to be clever :).... and JP, while being clever, I saw that looperDAT.dat file as well! mmmm ... maybe we will be able to store and recall multiple loops in the future. Wow, it could be that we don't even need to do anything during our gig except to stand there looking awesome!!!! :) Of course I'm kidding and there is no way I can look awesome unless the lights go out! Hey, I could do that with Showcase :)
