PEWhitworth
Hi, Since getting Helix Stadium XL I've been able to record to Audacity & BandLab via USB-C cable in stereo on Windows 11. I can't say exactly when it started occurring, but I can now no longer record from Helix in stereo - just mono. I recently updated Helix to 1.3.2. Whether it was the Helix update or a Windows update - I really don't know. I know I didn't change anything in Helix Global Settings (though I've just done a factory reset of these, which hasn't solved the problem). I've also uninstalled & reinstalled the Helix drivers. I can record from keyboards via USB in stereo, so I don't think it's a Windows/hardware issue. Any help much appreciated.
silverhead
Odd. I assume you are already doing this since it was previously working, but just to review…. The ASIO driver offers 8 mono channels for recording, with the option to choose adjacent ones (e.g. 3+4) as a stereo pair. Are you sure you are selecting the stereo pair as the record input source in your DAW, and that your Helix preset identifies this pair in the Output block? Perhaps there’s some driver conflict? Try disconnecting other USB devices while recording. Restart the computer to be sure.
PEWhitworth
Thanks for your quick reply. You got me thinking... On my Windows device, I went into System > Sound > Properties, and in 'Input settings' Helix was showing as '1 channel, 24bit, 48000Hz'. I changed it to '2 channels, 24bit, 44100Hz'. rebooted laptop & Helix and stereo has been restored. Thanks for your help
silverhead
In your DAW you should be able to see all 8 channels available when you arm a track for recording. I generally record two tracks simultaneously: the Dry mono guitar signal sent on Ch7 by default (see Global Settings) as well as the wet CH1+2 signal. I use the Dry track for reamping using Helix Native or other plugins.
