OMG what am I doing wrong

Trying to set a volume pedal on EXP 1 and Wah on EXP 2

I have followed you tube support and asked Co Pilot, followed what I think are the steps needed but i still cant make it work. I select block, choose vol or Wah, assign pedals but they seem to interfere or cancel each other.

are there any other things i could be missing

thanks

Hi,

When seeking assistance from other users, it’s a good idea to provide as much information as possible. In this instance it would help to tell us what Helix unit you are trying to control, with what expression pedal - make/model.

Not all third party expression pedals will work straight out of the box. I don’t recall that anyone has compiled a list, but IIRC, some pedals may require a little bit of work with a soldering iron to rewire, or modify jack plugs.

Please clarify, and please note the default settings are EXP 1 is assigned to Wah and EXP 2 is Volume. The can be changed in the  controller assignment.

Hope this helps/makes sense.

Helix Floor using the on board EXP pedals. No mention of external third party pedals

Right now, both blocks might be ON at the same time?!

  • Select your Volume block and manually press the Bypass button so it is ON.
  • Select your Wah block and manually press the Bypass button so it is OFF (dimmed).
  • Now, when you press hard on the Toe Switch, Helix will toggle between them: Volume ON / Wah OFF and Volume OFF / Wah ON.

Ah, now we know what unit you're using it's easier to tell you which Owner's Manual you should check - not all HX devices have built in EXP pedals and require external 3rd party options!

https://line6.com/data/6/0a00051afda2673ccc1cc8e68/application/pdf/Helix 3.80 Owner's Manual - English .pdf

See page 8 item 16. Expression Pedal.

16. Expression Pedal Move the expression pedal to control volume, wah, or a
combination of amp and/or effects parameters. Activate the hidden toe switch to
toggle between EXP 1 and EXP 2. (The scribble strip above tells you which one is
active.) If an external pedal is connected to the rear panel EXP 2 jack, the built-in
pedal becomes EXP 1 only—see "Controller Assign"

NOTE: Adding a Wah, Pitch Wham, or Poly Wham block automatically assigns its
Position parameter to be controlled by EXP 1. Adding a Volume Pedal or Pan block
automatically assigns its Position to be controlled by EXP 2

Hope this helps/makes sense.
