Helix LT: Saving a snapshot onto none of the 4 footswitches

Someone uploaded a preset either here on Customtone, or I got it via one of the people I follow on Youtube; they created a preset where one of the snapshots was NOT saved on a dedicated footswitch. When I press the preset, immediately none of the 4 footswitches are highlighted. They've saved 4 snapshots on the 4 footswitches, but a 5th one on an unhighlighted on (when all 4 footwitches are NOT highlighted together).

I have a video that explains this, but I can't seem to upload it here.
Have attached a pic instead (might not be too clear, but in it, I've only pressed the top preset button, and at the bottom, even though you can see the colours of each footswitch, none are actually highlighted/pressed, yet, there is dedicated snapshot assigned here).

I've tried to find videos/tutorials of how to do this, but have had no luck, as I've had difficulty describing it.

My question: how do you do this? Is there a specific term for technique?

Any help & guidance would be amazing! Thank you in advance

"Performance" is not a term that's used in relation to the footswitch actions in the Helix series.

Noe of what you're saying makes any sense at all.

Maybe a specific explanation of what actually occurs when you press a "not highlighted" switch?

Your video link doesn't work, so...

EDIT: If you have the preset on your LT, attach it to your reply.

I think with "performance" the OP means snapshot.

Let's call it the "Hidden Snapshot" or "Unassigned Default Snapshot" technique.

  • Assign the footswitches to Snapshots 2–5 in Command Center using Snapshot Commands.
  • Switch to Snapshot 1 on screen and save the preset. When recalled, Snapshot 1 will play while all 4 footswitches remain dim.

Amazing! Thanks so much for this. Sorry for confusing everyone with the incorrect terminology. My brain sometimes likes to takes vacations.
