jandrio
this is NOT a PODXT forum
TheRealZap
I moved the topic... my suggestion would be to not use line6 edit, and instead install gearbox. gearbox does not use java and is a newer editing package that works with the XT.
blocka
Thanks for that . Have downloaded Gearbox. I have now at least been able to get a tone downloaded and it apperas in Gearbox. It will also appear in the window on PodXT Live. However i am unable to Save the tone. After selecting where i want the tone go , i press save twice but there is no change on the screen to confirm the change and the tone does not save on the Pod . This is confirmed because after turn the Pod off and then on the original tone has not been replaced with the new one. Thanks for help. TheRealZap
you have to select "put" in the gearbox memory window. best not to edit on the pod directly when gearbox is open.
r_koby
Seems to me that Line 6 edit 3.0 is a lot newer than Gearbox. They do not update gearbox anymore apparently. It is quite old.
TheRealZap
it's not newer, it's legacy... at one point in the distant past they made a minor update to support a newer version of java... which probably makes it seem newer than it is but line6 edit the program probably hasn't seen any substantial updates since 2005. Seems to me that Line 6 edit 3.0 is a lot newer than Gearbox. They do not update gearbox anymore apparently. It is quite old.
PhilAngus
Sorry, but the software is absolutely horrendous! It's not at all intuitive, confusing and completely unreliable. I have just spent about an hour trying to understand it, finally thinking I'm getting somewhere only to see a transfer request failed error when trying to download anything. I have managed to download a tone, but when I try and load it, it states incompatible file or something similar. there are far too many bit and pieces of software available with Line 6, Monkey, Edit, Gearbox etc etc. They always have been great products but the software has always been flakey and non intuitive. Your answer to a previous question of "you have to select "put" in the gearbox memory window" is baffling! Where is this 'Put'? Can you be a little more specific when answering questions, it helps no one when being vague! When I try to load a tone that has been downloaded it states unable to load tone, unsupported patch type. This is despite following all the correct product links on the Line 6 web site for the Pod XT Live.Come on guys, get this crap tidied up please! TheRealZap
PUT is at the top of the memory window that shows your tones... (along with GET if you want to bring a tone from the device to gearbox)
BillBee
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_u8j9ZAUzC4 Gearbox is a pretty decent program considering its age - 9/10 a good read of the manual will straighten out those wrinkles :) -B
Brazzy
GearBox took me sometime getting used but in the end I became more fluent controling it and came to like it. Still use it to this day. It's not a bad thing to read the GearBox manual from time to time. You should strive to be able to build a patch on the fly and as you do you'll find less need for customtone. Whatever you do never let a computer program get the best of you.
dbaudrate
When I try to load a tone that has been downloaded it states unable to load tone, unsupported patch type. This is despite following all the correct product links on the Line 6 web site for the Pod XT Live. Come on guys, get this crap tidied up please! Sounds like you are downloading a non-PodXT patch. That's why you are getting the unsupported patch error. As mentioned, this is old software for an old device. It's not going to get any better. You are right that it isn't always intuitive. Go through the manual and check out the video above. If you still have issues, we'll be glad to answer questions.
