mjamborn
I recently purchased my HD500X last Christmas and now one of foot switches doesn't make the "mechanical click" they all make when you step on them. The switch still is working but it feels different from all the rest. I'm wondering should I send it in while it's under warranty? I worry about problems down the road when it's no longer under warranty. Anybody have any advice or experience a similar issue?
stumblinman
There are a few threads on this subject floating around the forum. It doesn't seem to be widespread, but perhaps there was a less-than-spectacular batch of footswitches. If it's under warranty, I'd start a support ticket just to get the conversation with L6 support going. It may not be a "sky is falling" epidemic, but it's your money, so make sure they stand behind their product. Keep us posted please! mjamborn
Thanks I will start a support ticket. It's under warranty so I'm sure they'll stand behind it. Just hope I'm not without my Pod for very long. Hate to go back to my old effects board.
shadowchild
Ugh...how hard is it to design a switch that doesn't crap out after a few months? In the old stompbox days, you could have pedals for years on end, and you'd actually have to try to destroy them. C'mon...when a device's primary function is to be left on the floor and stepped on, it needs to be at least a little rugged. Shouldn't have to treat these things like Fabergé eggs...Maybe it's me... I couldn't agree more... I recently bought a second Pod HD 500x when my switches started acting up... had no choice, gig was coming up, I was tied to the effects and while I could buy a new one and have it overnight delivered in time for the show... going through support can take "2-3" days just to get the ball rolling... I now have 2 useless pedalboards with identical footswitch problems. hopefully Line 6 will honor the warranty (I've only just contacted them so we shall see)
edstar1960
I thought the 500X footswitches were meant to be a significant upgrade and improvement over the footswitches used on the 500, so I am not pleased to hear about these problems, especially as I still have a 500 and I have had it for a couple of years now, so what can I do for a backup? I had thought that the 500X was the logical way to go, but hearing these stories means it really is best to wait until all these issues get sorted. Hope you guys get your 500X's fixed. shadowchild
...Hope you guys get your 500X's fixed. As do I... being in a 3 piece it's quite obvious and embarrassing when the pedal suddenly switches to a super dirty tone during something soft and sweet... and yeah... bar owners don't want to hear your excuses when this shhhtuff happens. Short of re-planning my entire set of presets so that everything is on channel a, then switching banks every time I need a new tone... I'm pretty much SOL. Very disappointed as my old POD XT live still works 8+ years later... But now I'm addicted to the new FX. I really hope the vendor I bought from just got a bad batch. Charlie_Watt
The 500x footswitches are a significant upgrade IMO. They seem very solid to me.
billlorentzen
I've read that there are vids on how to clean switches, but I've been unable to find one. Mine are holding up so far, with some pretty steady gigging, but once in a while I get some odd behavior, so I'm curious about maintaining it. Anyone know? guilhordas
have you seen this?
Charlie_Watt
I don't think the footswitch cleaning applies to the HD500x switches.
shadowchild
have you seen this? That is the issue I have exactly. Line 6 support is now helping me get a warranty repair/replacement. I'd advise anyone with the same problem to contact support and be patient, they will take care of you. :)
