  1. Also, make sure you're not pluggin it to an USB hub or something like that. Go straight to USB ports in the back if it's a desktop or USB ports from the board if it's a laptop.
  2. Call the guy from which you bought it and ask him to transfer the account to you. I believe Monkey could fix this but you need to have access to an account. I've been able to install drivers, edit and monkey and make it usable in other computers like the guy who sold it to you, but he probably needed the account user and password. It's hard for me to believe that you just bought the thing when the POD is known for its interaction with software, updates and therefore an account. Not to say the guy who's selling his POD on ebay just because he can't install drivers...
  3. There could be conflicting drivers. I'd suggest you uninstall everything involved with Line 6 and install again. Have you tried to fix the driver issue with the Monkey?
  4. What I see is that drivers are not installed in your laptop. See if an antivirus, firewall or some sort of "security suite" is keeping drivers from installing properly. One last thing; check that the USB port in the POD is not broken. It should have a square pin in the center where 4 connectors reach. I've read in the forums that they break easily.
  5. I just thought of it yesterday, as I was thinking as well of the durability of the HD500. I honestly don't know much of it, but I know most wah pedals are optical since older ones seemed to use some kind of pot and they would wear out often. I'd like to know what kind of system the expression pedal uses so I know the life expectancy of it.
  6. PODs have been a signature sound for Fear Factory's guitarrist Dino Cazares. I remember he started using it since XT series, getting a great sound for their Digimortal album. Apparently, he's been using XT, X3 and HD until he gearwhored into Axe FX :D It's been almost 2 years since I own my POD HD500. I wanted one since XT, and just 2 years ago I had the money for one. I remember when I first used it at a Metal Fest last year, in an open place, good sound for the venue, my patches weren't the best (Just simple amp and wahs or whatever I used, but no mid-EQ or Screamer). This guy from another band came with a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier. My band was playing before, and I liked the sound of my guitar (Which by the way, distorted patches use a Treadplate heheh). After our show, I sat to listen to this band and thought "He's really going to kick lollipop with that Mesa", but to my surprise, it didn't sound better than my guitar. As long as you can get a decent unclipped sound from the POD, I think it sounds great both live and in studio. Of course, it'll never sound as good as real gear in my oppinion, but there's unlimited possibilites in these boards. You have like $30,000 gear worthy in it, something hardly achievable in real life. It's not like your going to use everything, but in time, you know you can experiment with them and see what it comes out. Edit: By the way, my POD is coming out through the Power Amp of my transistor amp head and 4x12" cab. I've tried it through the PA of our rehearsal place, but I never got it to sound good, so I never ventured into trying it direct to the PA in a live situation.
  7. I have the same problem and I don't touch anything on the pod. After I switched from XP to 7, I thought the OS was the problem since it wasn't happening on 7. But I had that problem happen again. So far, I think I've found a way to overcome that problem by not switching setlists on POD edit. So, now when I want to make/modify patches in POD Edit, I select the setlist I want to work with in the POD, and then I plug the USB cable, open POD edit. etc. It's a very annoying problem. I made a post like a year ago about it, and I also said I had a ticket to solve this, but the answer was "Your pod is broken. take it to the nearest official Line 6 shop to fix it". Jeez...thanks. Probably that means 1200 Km to fix it. I don't think it's a POD problem rather than a bug in the POD's OS that comes out with certain computers. If Line 6 were clearer in their latest OS update, I would know if this problem was included in their "bugs & optimizations fix".
