  1. But, the question is that the BEST $30 you've spent on Line6?
  2. THAT would be another entire kettle of fish lol. Line6 is sort of new at "holiday sales events" after all lol...
  3. This may be a time when procrastination works FOR me lol
  4. 1. Wrong. From my Line6 Email: "Expand your amp collection without breaking the bank. For this weekend only, you can save 30% off ALL Line 6 Model Packs. More amps and even more tones." 2. Also wrong by virtue of the fact that number one above was wrong. Give the guy his due -- Line6 HAS sat on outdated model packs for YEARS and never once thrown out a sale until today that I recall. I could be wrong about having no sale before, but it hasn't been for a long time if there was one. Since I just purchased the Power Pack to complete my POD Farm 2.5 setup (still lack the Bass Pack) it'd been nice to have had this sale then as I paid $99 just to complete a set I'd had since around 2010. In any event, my main point is that you're flaming the guy when his facts are correct about POD Farm model Packs being on sale as well.
  5. You are so right Duncann...it takes a lot to "wow" the world these days which is really sad to me as well. There are a great many things that are just as amazing that fly well under the radar most times. People these days seem to be interested in: 1. Facebook in all it's pointless meme-riddled glory 2. Sports 3. Arguing over politics (in all it's pointless glory) Family runs a distant fourth, although people will quickly deny this. The stats don't lie though and as a (now former) long time foster parent I can attest to how important some people's kids are to them, namely not at all. Wow, sorry I got on that soapbox, but it's a bit of a pet peave of mine.
  6. Since I don't generally hang out in this or any forum day after day after day, I don't tend to track the posting habits of anyone -- even myself at times. My post was well intentioned and based on giving someone the benefit of the doubt, an art that is all but lost in today's "up yours a$$hole" world. I'll try to contain myself going forward and act my age. Get off my lawn kid.
  7. I was 10 1/2 and I was enthralled by this moment!
  8. Well, if he changed it then I missed the original post. I have been away for a while myself, but the reponse I DID see seemed overly harsh for the OP I DID see lol. Crapping all over the people/product.ecosystem you are leaving for any reason is bad form, no doubt and truly pointless. I do feel that under the circcumstances I THOUGHT were afoot, my analogy about jobs is still valid in my mind. Saying farewell to people you've interacted with is just basic manners to me.
  9. I don't understand all the sarcasm based on the origial post at all. This idea od "forum suicide" is kind of silly. In reality, if you spend significant time at any place, you make acquaintences and that includes a forum. If you were to find what you considered a better job FOR YOU then saying a decent goodbye to the folks you'd been working with would not be a "job suicide" would it? It would be simply saying goodbye to people you know. The origial post of this thread was no different than that really, and yet people jumped his backside. This, I don't understand. Now if he was crapping all over all things Line6, then I guess I could see it but clearly he was not.
  10. You are a younngters Phil, but then I knew that instictively based on your answers to many questions here myself. That's not meant as any sort of slight mind you, so please take no offense. My brother is slightly older than you are and I know how differently he went about learning to play guitar than I did. He wore out cassette tapes learning licks while I wore out vinyl, for example. All there was to play as a kid was tube amps and pedals were a luxery while he was raised in the age of rack systems and Randy Rhodes shredding. So his approach begins at a far different place than mine....yet we play a lot of the same songs and enjoy jamming when we can (he lives 200+ miles away) -- we just do that with different gear and my hair is a bit grayer :)
  11. So, I'm 56 and I will post from either a computer, a tablet and/or my Droid phone. I am technically inclined by nature having been a computer programmer since the early 1980s, so tech like the POD is second nature to me. If I wrestle with anything, it is the idea of the sheer variety that the POD HD and Variax combination offers (which even for a tech guy can be mind boggling) versus the simplicity of plugging straight into a tube amp with a quality Stratocaster versus picking up my Taylor and just playing the damn thing lol. The thing there is that you CAN get quite a lot of sounds out of the seemingly simpler electric Strat-> Princeton/Deluxe setup using volumes, tone controls and 5 way switch changes and with my Taylor I returne often to Drop D, Double Drop D, Open D (and by extension Open E), Open G or DAGAD and get a million tones that way. These last two approaches are what I grew up with really while the Line6 rig represents the "more endless possibilities" there are to be had. So for me, every time I sit down, I decide between playing my acoustic straight up, my electric tube setup or the Line 6 rig and every day is different. Life is good :)
  12. There's no flaw in how I felt, sorry. The reasons it happened this way are a separate issue.
  13. If I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet, I couldn't be more surprised.
  14. You mean they don't? Are you serious Clark?
  15. We HD500 people are just Red Headed Step Children...
  16. Actually it could be super efficient garbage. Bad programming practices can absolutely overcome great hardware. See ANYTHING MADE BY MICROSOFT lol....
  17. To be fair, the day Line6 announced the 500X is the day they introduced a sense of substandardness to the HD500 owners out there, intentionally or not. It's that way with everything (it seems) these days. You buy the latest and greatest HD television only to find out (often by the time you get it hooked up!) they have released another upgraded whiz-bang model a the same cost. You can't help but feel cheated at some level because you spent the same money as the guy getting a better (more capable) model. So I totally understand where the OP is coming from here and I've felt the same way, although I don't hold it against Line6 as this is a fairly normal business practice these days. As for the bugs, then I'd say the same differences that caused the delay would make bugs in the X line irrelevant to the HD500 series by virtue of DSP architectural differences personally.
  18. Yep. Great tech capabilities does not (necessarily) equal great sound. While I have enough former professional electronics background to follow this discussion, I think this point trumps all of what prceeded it.

  20. Plus the FireHawk is iOS/Android ready and able too, if that's your thing.
  21. I feel bad that nobody has tried to help and I wish I could, but honestly? I have no earthly idea what you are talking about song or sound wise lol. Perhaps some background? Things like who's the original artist and a short sound clip or video perhaps? Then at least you'd have a starting point for others to chime in with sounds they may have created themselves for other purposes that may work in your context.
  22. Lol... I know I hit a dead mouse round here somewhere! Actually the frog would be perfect for a lunker bass!
