How can I make my acoustic models sound more like an acoustic...
cbeattyjr replied to andymguitar's topic in Variax Standard
Good point. However, folks who play a lot of acoustic-electric guitar (no matter what brand) might want to consider playing with their fingers and thumb. I'm not saying to become a "fingerstyle" player. Just consider your normal techniques without a pick. Nearly always sound better when amplified. No quack. Requires way less processing. On the other hand, when I'm not playing amplified, I get buried by the guy with a dreadnought playing with a pick! -

I can't stress this enough: .011" gauge strings with a wound G. Play with the flesh of your fingers and thumb. Check out this review: https://youtu.be/HyyO-1V-XLQ -
All the recent hype about the Fender Acoustasonic Telecaster motivated me to launch my "Electro-Roots Workshop" YouTube channel with a review of the Variax acoustic sounds. https://youtu.be/HyyO-1V-XLQ Much obliged!

Thanks kblackley. I ended up getting the previous model shortboard on Reverb for $70.00 shipped. Works fine.

Spider V and FBV MKII Express Features
cbeattyjr replied to jamesyes98's topic in FBV Controllers (MKI / MKII / 3)
Same question here. Seems like Line 6 should be able answer easily. -
Nobody? Seems like an easy question for someone from Line 6.

Can the FBV Express MKII be used to select individual effects within a patch on the Spider V? If so - how difficult is it to implement? Much obliged.

I have the JTV-59. But I think the guts are the same so I'll offer my experience. I think you can get the best sound by bypassing outboard effects (except maybe slight compression) and going DI into a mixer. Of course, my other secret is to use .011" strings with a wound G. Makes a big difference.
