I recently bought the DT25 head/cab combo and I also have the HD500. When using the L6 Link, it makes loud pop noises when i change the preset on the HD500 (or the edit software). Both the DT25 and the HD500 are on the latest firmware. I am concerned about these pops in a live situation especially when the amp is mic'd. Is this just my amp or is this a common problem? If it is indeed a common problem, how do you deal with it? I did some search and looks like most folks are getting these pops when they change from Class A -A/B or vice versa but in my case I get it regardless Thanks for your help in advance!

Thanks guys. I am going to try again tomorrow. I am also thinking of going over to the local guitar center tomorrow and play the combo they have there with the same settings. Based on your responses, I am hoping it's just me.

Hello All, I just bought a DT25 head + cab. The only amp that I have owned before this is the 20W Fender Mustang I. So after I plugged in and started playing, I couldn't hear any sound from the cab. I was sitting 3-4 feet away from the cab. The settings on the head were as follows: Low Volume Output = OFF Voicing = 1, Pentode, Class A Drive = 3, Bass = 6, Mid = 5, Treble = 5, Presence = 3 Volume = 5 Master Volume = 4 I could hear through voicings 2 and 4 though. Then I changed the settings on the head as per the settings layout shown on the head top which basically turns up the volume all the way up to 10 and it was okay. My question here is that were my original settings too low and is it normal that I couldn't hear anything at those settings and for this voicing is the volume supposed to be turned way up high? I just want to make sure that there is nothing wrong with the amp itself and if I need to return it. Like I said, since I've only played a Mustang I before, I am used to that thing which plays pretty loud at master volume of 3-4 and amp volume of less than 5 so which is why I am confused. Thanks for your help in advance!

Hello All, I am trying to find a carrying case for the DT25 head. Preferably a soft case. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

So do I pull the black housing around the chrome knob to get the knob out? This is just a week old guitar so trying to be extra careful in case I need to send it back. Also, if I change the input on my HD500 to Variax Magnetics instead of Variax it switches to the magnetics even though the knob remains lit.

I assigned one of the FX blocks to a footswitch (FS1) using the EDIT. The FS1 controller on the HD500 lights up, however, when I press the switch on the POD, nothing happens. If I press the same FS1 switch on the EDIT (Computer), it turns off and the FX block screen shows up on the HD500. After this I am able to turn on/off the FX by pressing the footswitch on the HD500 but why can't I do that as soon as I assign it in the EDIT? Thanks in advance for your responses!

Potential Issues With My New Jtv59p?
the29band replied to the29band's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I rolled back the FW to 1.9 and it sounds much better. I am starting to like it now.The acoustics and tele did sound better on 2.0 but everything else sounds much better in 1.9. My opinion of course. -

So I am directly plugged into the HD500 and monitoring via headphones. No amp involved. I tried re-flashing once and I don't hear any change. I will try re-flashing a couple more times and see if it does anything. While I do agree that different guitars will sound different, I am not expecting the variax models to sound identical to my existing guitars. All I am expecting is to sound as good as the ones I have or even better. Actually I am expecting the latter, to be honest. I can tell when a guitar sounds good and that is where my gripe with this instrument has been so far. -
Potential Issues With My New Jtv59p?

So I did get the replacement and even though it wasn't missing any part I can't get the guitar to sound good as expected. And since "expected" is a very relative term what I actually mean is that when I load up presets on my HD500 that I created using my much cheaper guitars (Squires and Epi), I can't even get the JTV to sound anywhere close to those guitars. e.g. the distortion and sustain on the lester comes no where close the Epi LP standard. Same with comparing between the Spank model and my Squier Standard (with Seymour Duncan pickups). The tele and the acoustic are the only models that sound decent. The guitar came loaded with 2.0 FW. I wonder if I am doing something wrong... -

My replacement will arrive today so will find out if they made it right. They did give me a decent discount on the replacement to make up for it, so if the guitar works it will be worth it. -
I have my JTV on the way to be delivered on Tuesday. While I am waiting for it (I actually had one delivered last week that was defective). I am wondering what most of the JTV owners use them for. It seems like it gets its most use playing live but do you use it for recording as well? If yes, only demos or final tracks as well? The reason I ask this is because of 2 reasons: 1) I have a few low-end guitars (Squiers, Epiphone etc.), so this is my first big investment and I kept going back & forth between buying a Fender/Gibson or the JTV, before I pulled the trigger on the JTV. I am wondering if this guitar will help me in the recording process. I understand I'll have to play it and then compare it with my other guitars to see what sounds better but would like others opinions. 2) My first JTV turned out to be defective. I have read several folks complaining of theirs going bad (or finding some technical issues) and at the end of the day, if a guitar comes with all the technology built into it some of that is bound to happen (atleast a lot more than a regular guitar where the electronics aren't as complicated and even if they break can be easily fixed) So even though I have one on the way, it still makes me nervous about it's long term usage. Thanks for everyone's opinions in advance!

Jtv69 Alternate Tuning Issue
the29band replied to cruisinon2's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I had the same problem with my new JTV59P but that was something right out of the box so I sent it back. When I called Sweetwater, they told me they have seen this issue across the board with many folks complaining. Not sure what the solution is. -
I have multiple HD500 patches that I created over the period of time and want to know if there's a way to import all of them into a setlist so that I don't have to import them one by one. Thanks for your help in advance!

Potential Issues With My New Jtv59p?
the29band replied to the29band's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Yes, it was a "Scratch and Dent" guitar from Sweetwater. I am returning it to get a replacement. Hopefully the replacement works out fine. They didn't have a 59 version in stock so getting a 69 instead. -
I got my new JTV59P today and I have not been able to get any decent guitar sound of it. I am hoping it's user error and need to confirm that else send it back: 1) There was no Li ion battery included. Is that normal? Do I have to get that separate? 2) In non-standard tunings there is a delayed signal that I hear from my right headphone via HD500. If I record and playback it sounds fine but during live play it sounds really bad 3) I had created some custom patches using my Epiphone Les Paul standard. If I load that patch and set the variax to Lester (same pickup) it sounds very different. Now I understand it's a different model but what I really mean here is that while I get a good distorted signal via my Epi, the variax sounds like clean/slightly crunchy guitar. I have to increase the gain a lot to make it sound as distorted. I am wondering if I'm missing any technical setup or is the guitar bad. I am connected to the HD500 using the vdi cable. I have also tried the guitar input but no diffrence Thanks for your help in advance!
