Am I missing the firmware update? I'm only seeing the Helix app?

here are a couple that I've done. Forgot my notes at home as to the amp/effects chain. Will post that later when I get home. There are a few sour notes so be gentle, and they ended up being a little longer than I had intended. https://soundcloud.com/michael-j-ott/blinki https://soundcloud.com/michael-j-ott/bluesy-1

the only hum that I'm getting with my Egnater is when i hook a cable up to the ext control (amp switch) and plug it into my amps switch jack and go to the lead channel. I can move the cable and get it to go away. It's weird because it's not there when im on the lead channel without the cable connected. It does seem to be coming from the transformer though. I've tried 3 cables and they are all the same. Otherwise the 4CM is damn near noisless unlike my G system

Awesome, thanks duncann! I'll check in just a minute!

I'm must be missing something obvious, but how do I add a split and merge block to me preset routing? Thanks!

I agree with cacibi. Line 6 and especially DI have done, in my opinion, a commendable job at disseminating a lot of info and going above and beyond with helping those of us who were lucky to get our Helices in the first delivery. I know we all want what we want now, and believe that what we think is the most important thing to fix is what L6 should be focusing on, but having the expectation that my wants should trump others and direct L6's thinking does nothing but set me up to be frustrated and have my serenity completely trashed. I'm positive that L6 is listening to us, but troubleshooting, rewriting code, implementing, and testing don't happen overnight. Let's all take a deep breath and accept the fact that the fixes, new amps, cabs, effects, IR's and editing software will get here when it gets here. The thing has barely been out 2 weeks and we expecting years worth of new development to happen yesterday. I'm not jumping down any particular user's throat, but we need to keep our expectations right sized. (myself included) I'm extremely happy with my Helix and what it offers and what it brings to us as musicians and creators. Ok...I'm off my lunch hour soapbox. Back to your regularly scheduled program..... :)

I had the same issue I thought but what happened is that've didn't press hard enough to disengage the volume and engage the Wah. The button takes a lot of pressure to activate on my unit.

Channel switching on the Vengeance was much quicker than the G system. It's only a 2 channel (although there are two master volumes) so I didn't have the issues Davesheremata has.

I'm running it on my Egnater Vengeance. In comparison to my G-system...well, not much of a comparison. The G always gave me fits and was just plain noisy, even with all the "fixes" i incorporated from others. The Helix doesn't add any real discernible noise unless I'm cranking an amp model or a distortion pedal, but that is to be expected. The cool thing is that I can have a model in my chain and set it so when I bypass the loop insert I get my amps tone, and then I can toggle and get my model tone and effects into the return of the amp! so I get the best of both worlds. It really is very easy to setup and it sounds amazing. I'm really impressed with the Wah models into the nose of my amp. Actually, all of the effects sound really clear and detailed now that I've had some time to really fiddle with it. I won't miss my G system other than the 9v power supply outputs for a couple of my effects.

I've got mine working, I did basically the same thing Dave. It's nice to be able to go back and forth between my amp and then cut to a modeled preamp. Unfortunately, I've been so busy I've only got maybe 3 hrs on the thing since I got it so I don't have any real presets and still need to figure out the internal routing to get the desired effect, but I am stoked at what I'm hearing so far! I can't keep up on all the forums...geez, they're moving fast!

Thanks drew_fx. I realized after I posted that i didn't have the cables routed correctly smh!

Well...crap. Just occurred to me that I think I know what I did. I think I had the sends from Helix into the wrong inputs. I'll rewire tonight and post results. Ima' dork!

Hey group, I need some help. I've been trying to get the 4CM to work with my Helix and Vengeance and it just isn't working. I followed DI's advice (pasted below) but what I'm running into is that the signal doesn't seem to be getting to the nose of the amp. The preset I had for testing was as follows: EQ>Treble Boost>loop>amp>delay I had my input from guitar in to 1/4" out. The loops were send/return 1. The only sound I got was through the loops, however, I couldn't get the delay to come through or the amp. When I disabled the loop no sound at all. I could disconnect the loops and get sound straight through Helix. I'm frustrated! Any help would be greatly appreciated. DI wrote: Hi, I got your PM. I'll answer here so everyone can see the answer. Sorry for not replying sooner. The post above me here is pretty much 100% correct. In order to get to make the 4CM work, you have you either have an effects loop block in your tone or separate send and return blocks. I'm not sure there's necessarily any advantage to using separate send and return blocks, though, so just use the FX loop block as a starter. You have to go to the Send/Return portion of the menu, and pick the FX Loop 1 block. The items in the preset that come before that block will be before your amp's input, and the one's after that will be in your amp's effects loop. Really, most of the time you're using the 4CM, you wouldn't be using an amp model in the Helix. You'd be using it for effects only. That being said, you can make it so you could toggle between using your amp's preamp and the an amp model (or preamp model) on the Helix. If you bypass the FX loop block, everything in your chain will be fed right into your amp's effects return, so you're basically just using your amp as a power amp and cab for the Helix at that point. So a cool thing you can do is have the FX loop and the amp model (I would actually recommend that you try using a preamp model rather than full amp model first) assigned to the same footswitch, but just have it set up so that when one is on the other is off and vice versa.

Got mine yesterday. Build wise this thing is a work of art! Solid as a rock, although the volume pot seems to have some wiggle in it while the headphone volume does not (a couple others have reported this as well). Last night I just ran it direct into my egnater vengeance "return" loop. Obviously the full models of amps/cabs didn't sound as good as they could've because of how I was running it it when I switched to preamps only, wow! I was impressed with the majority of them. From the cleaner fenders to the full on Mesa and bogners they sounded very very realistic. I'm still trying to get a delay sound that I'm happy with though. I don't know if it's how I'm running it but they all sounded "washed out" if that makes sense. Now with the headphones the delays sounded much much better however the amp models sounded brittle. It probably is from the fact of running through headphones although I have a very nice (expensive) set of AKG studio headphones. I only had about an hour and a half to mess with it so don't take this as a definitive review Overall I'm impressed and will have zero regret selling my G system. I know it's only going to get better the more familiar I get with it.

Chris just upgraded me to overnight shipping for $40! oh yeah!

Just got the call from Chris at SW. The helices are shipping! I should have in hand Thursday!!
-
That is hilarious!! (And true). What we will all do when we actually get them in hand and have to go back to playing???

My Sales Engineer just emailed me the following: "Hey Mike, The Fedex Freight Truck was in Chicago last night. We are right in Indiana. I don't understand where the shipment is. Ha. Tracking says that the truck should be here today. We'll be getting them out the door as fast as we can!" On top of that FedEx wait, I'm waiting on FedEx to drop off my new Ibanez here at work! I so lack in patience!!

Just talked to my Sales Rep at Sweetwater, he said I am in the first delivery batch and should have mine late next week! Am not holding my breath (too much anyways) but am hoping it holds true. -

Woohoo! ...and the skies parted and the Angels sang.... Please ship mine for same day delivery :D -
Just wondering if it was worthwhile to create and pin some separate topics for posting programs, problems, solutions for the different aspects of effects and amps? It would make it easier to report software glitches, annotate patches, etc.
