Hi,i don't understand,the Global eq,when set to Combo Front mode. What is the Focus(default 570hz)used for? Then there is Lows -50/Highs-50(default)what does this relate to & what do the figures indicate? Is there an explanation anywhere?it dosen't say much in the Manual. Thanks. Oh,i've not plugged it into any amplification yet,i'm just getting used to how to use the ON BOARD controls & HD Edit.

Hi,AlexKenival.I play in a 3 piece(old)Rock Band,playing the usual drivel from the 70's,have you used a Class D Amp & speakers,for gigs,?,if so which have you used,i'm really going to try & get the 500X to work through our Yam.PA,then think about on stage sound after. In fact i'm just thinking about carting our 115 mids into the house,wife's nodded off on the settee,she might not notice,when she wakes up :D

Ok,before i delv into PB's solution(i don't understand a lot of what he said :) ) I've deleted everything i could find from L6, Programs/Folders & i'm going to start again,i don't normally have problems with drivers/connections etc.on this computer. I believe the log-in details are the same,it let me log in to Line 6 support via Monkey,with my normal log-in,of course nothing worked ;) ,but it let me log in. I'm going to download in this order: Monkey?HD500X Driver from Monkey:then if i establish connection in Monkey,i'll re download HDEdit,does that sound a reasonable way forward? I can't say i've had this much trouble getting a USB driver to connect before. Just remembered something when i downloaded the Driver(can't remember the version no.)a warning box came up that said my 500X already had a later version installed,does that sound right?

Hi,yes i've tried all that,when i check on Windows driver locator,it says the following C:\USERS\OWNER\APPDATA\LOCAL\TEMP\L6DRIVERINST\ can't be found, i've done a search & that location dosen't show up.

Hi,did everything including registered product with L6,downloaded driver from Monkey,still no go,Windows can't find the driver,can anyone suggest anything else.

Ah!,thanks.that could be the bit i'm missing,i hadn't realised i had to register :) i'll give that a go. On the bright side i did get on a bit with editing at the 500X via the LCD & controls.

Well my first question after my 500X arriving isn't what i expected,i can't get HD Edit to see the 500X,i've looked everywhere on this website & the Manual & the L6 website,but there dosn't seem to be an idiots guide explaining a procedure to connect to the HD Edit. I know there is currently another thread running,but i'm not sure it's discussing the same problem. Do i need to download a driver,?i located one on the L6 website(via another thread)but when i started the install i received a warning that it was an older version than the driver i already have,but Windows is telling me i don't have the driver. Can anyone advise me please?. Thanks.

Hi,Spaceatl.Thanks for the link,i now realise i have already read it,when i initially joined the forum,for info the DT25,i'm afraid to say it just re-confirmed my prejudice about buying another Valve Amp,the DT25 sounds really good,but i'm not getting back into Valves. Which is why i i've gone with the 500X,in the hope that i can get a good enough performance from the Modeling with some kind of S.S. amplification. Thanks.

Thanks,i'm just going by my old AC30's which where rated at 30watts with 4 x EL84's,most of the newer generation amps i've looked at with 2x EL84's seem to be rated at 18w. So are they be running fairly hot?,i always thought my Vox's run hot enough.

Thanks.It was playing through a DT25 at the dealers that started me looking at L6,but i really don't want to get back into owning a Valve amp,but i have to agree,it's a great sounding Amp. If i can get anything like that sound quality,from the 500X & whatever Amp/Monitor i end up with,it will be my last Guitar Amplification purchase,unless it dies before me :) . I know this is the wrong section,but talking of the DT25,how do L6 get 25 watts out of 2 x EL84's,or have i got that wrong(again)

Thanks,cruisinon2,how early in production,was it a problem?ie,roughly how long ago(i have no idea when they where introduced). Also,I was back at the dealer Today,with our Bass player & by chance there was a guy playing through the Helix,which they had set up with different speakers (Yam. 2 x12" DBR)x2.& the guy knew how to get through the Menus,in complete contrast to Yesterdays performance it sounded very impressive,he also played it into the effects loop of his own amp(Boogie MK IV)also sounded really good,it probably didn't do any harm that he was also an excellent player :) . He used both the Modelled Pre-Amps & the Full Models into the Boogie,the full Models sounded a bit better than just the Pres,but there appeared to be more volume,with the Full Models,so maybe that needs balancing out before jumping to conclusions. Just thought i'd add this for interest.

Thanks,DunedinDragon.Our PA is a Yamaha DSR 2 x 115 & 2 x 118,so the DXR would be high on the list, :) . Another obvious candidate is the L6 L2M,but i know zilch about L6 speakers,a bit like i know zilch about the HD500X.

To be honest i don't know,i'd like to drag myself away from my 2 Combo amps on stage thinking & do whatever gives me the best results,if that means on stage monitors of some kind,that's what i'd like to get myself using. We have a decent PA system,with which i should be able to get good performance from the 500X. I've still got my old amp,so i don't have to rush into using the 500X,i have a feeling the transition from Guitar Amp to Monitor speaker(i really hesitate to use the term FRFR,i don't think they are :) )is going to be really difficult for me,a bit like convincing our Drummer to go with V-Drums,but some times even old people can drag themselves up to date,we'll see. And thanks for the interest & encouragement.
