  1. It worked before with the same USB port. Volume was up. Shouldn't it still work without internet access?
  2. Yeah, everything is plugged in, I just don't have internet connectivity at the workstation.
  3. I've got everything plugged in and I'm not able to connect (battery = 2 lights) and I'm getting a bad connect message and red light on the box. Computer was not connected to the internet. Does that matter?
  4. Yeah, that's what I tried to describe in my post up top. I wonder if anyone here has been successful with this procedure because, unless I'm missing something, it's not working for me.
  5. How would you copy one model sound and add it to the Custom model bank your Variax (without using Workbench)? Sometimes it can apply to other models.
  6. Call Sweetwater and see if they have it in stock and will match the price. I just bought an JTV-89 from Sweetwater a couple of weeks ago. They are very accommodating and will always proactively communicate status with you.
  7. Hi guys! This may be old information for this forum, but I came across it tonight and thought it might benefit someone. I applied the principles to my JTV-89 and it worked. Check it out!
  8. I scoured YouTube to see if someone demo's this feature to no avail. I attached a screenshot of the manual that gives direction on this, but unless I'm doing something wrong... it's pretty straightforward. Click on thumbnail.
  9. Thanks guys. The E & B strings do not sound doubled and naturally chorusing like a real 12 string would, but instead like a single E & B string on a 12 string guitar.
  10. Yes, a JTV-89. I tried saving to Custom 2 and it will not either. The blue light doesn't "flutter" like Custom 1 did when holding it down. When I take my hand off the knob, the blue light turns to white in a couple of seconds. I notice that on some models you have to pull up a knob, but the instruction booklet didn't say to.
  11. I have chosen 5 different models (D-28, sitar, etc.) I want to save to “Custom 1â€. Standard tuning. The saving is not "sticking" when following the manual instructions. Here's what I do: 1) Navigate to the first model I want to enter into 5-way switch position1 in Custom 1 or 2 2) Press the Guitar Model Selector until the alternating blinking occurs 3) Turn knob on the Guitar Model Selector to Custom 1 and move Pickup Selector Switch to position 1 4) Press the Guitar Model Selector until the quick blue-blinking occurs At this point it is my understanding that the model should be copied to the new position. It is not. Just the passive guitar pickup sound is heard. Am I doing something wrong?
  12. In #2 are you saying that by using Workbench, can you independently adjust the volume of each string and detune the E & B strings of the 12 string models?
  13. Thanks Johnny. There was some buzz initially. I raised the action, adjusted the neck and put 11's on. Not too much buzz now, if any. I haven't tried using Workbench. I'm still looking for a tutorial. If you know of one that walks you through it in "how to" procedures and not just a features summary, I'd appreciate it.
  14. I have a real Rick 12 that I play through an old Vox AC-30 and it sounds sweeeeeet! The Rick 12's in my JTV-89 are ok, but not that real sounding. When I tune the JTV-89 a whole step down and play the G string anywhere on the first 5 frets the octave sounds weird, buzzy. My POG2 sounds better. Also, the high E and B strings don't even sound doubled. Your thoughts? Side bar: The "D" string sounds like a ring modulator when lightly picked over the treble pickup in some spots. Is this a known anomaly? PS: I've put foam under the strings between the nut and tuners. Didn't help.
  15. I just got the JTV-89 and I notice buzz on the E, A, and D strings on the acoustic models. I changed to 11's and eq'd the high end and it helped. Fingerpicking seems ok, but slashing a chord still has some buzz.. Update: I adjusted the neck, loosening the truss rod 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn. That fixed it.
  16. Still trying to learn Workbench. Is it possible in Workbench to combine a Rick 12 sound with a Martin D-28 sound? Or passive pickup(s) with a sitar sound? Those are just arbitrary examples. If so, how? Thanks much for your help.
  17. I checked out the website and didn't see the type of tutorial I was looking for. I'm looking for a video or written procedure that walks you through from creating a sound to uploading it to the guitar with additional tips if needed. If I missed it, let me know. If anyone has additional suggestions, I'd really appreciate it.
  18. I want to begin customizing and I'm not sure how to start. I've downloaded the Workbench software and Monkey. Is there a video or instruction manual that can show me how to begin after I have the Workbench screen up? I just purchased the James Tyler JTV-89 guitar. Thanks much for you help! Mike
