Well rd2rk no it’s not necessary but it’s optional. Not for solving his problem but using 4CM in general. The Send being instrument level and the Return being line level seems logical to me and I found that the pre amp feel improved, like I say try it. But if you’re using one loop for 4CM then you’ll want to check what the level setting is in the global setting. For me I have to set the level to Line when using one loop, if it’s set to instrument the signal is way too hot and with that comes the noise. It’s the same for all 3 of the Mesa Boogie amps I own.

So I have the same pre amp and power amp and I have to say that combo sounds amazing! I used to have an ISP Decimator 2 in a loop and placed it after the loop that I'm using for 4CM. In the latest firmware update I've found that the Horizon Gate works just as well as the Decimator. If you have another loop available, I'd suggest using 2 loops for 4CM so that in the global settings you can change them to different level settings. For example Send 1 to Return 2 and in global settings set Send/Return 1 to instrument and Send/Return 2 to Line. If you don't have and extra loop just set your 4CM loop to Line. Hopefully that helps, let me know.

It still happens to me occasionally but unplugging and replugging the cables to the expression pedal after start up seems to fix the problem.

I put and ISP Decimator pedal in one of the loops and that worked like a charm. I was running a Mesa Boogie Tremoverb with the 4cm.

I missed the Reverb Update announcement. When did that happen?

Check the input of the effects loop that you have the amp in. I have a Mesa Boogie Tremoverb and switching the input from instrument to line worked.

Just got one and I'm curious if anybody has tried switching channels on it via the Helix.

The Mission is the only expression pedal I have. I tested and tested this over and over again and having the expression pedal connected was the culprit but I don't have another expression pedal to determine if it's a Mission problem or general expression pedal problem. The controller hasn't froze for a while since disconnecting and reconnecting the expression pedal is part of my regular routine everytime I power up.

I have the same problem! I posted about it a while ago but got no responses so I thought it was only me. I have the Helix rack and controller with a Mission expression pedal with the toe switch. Disconnection and reconnecting both cables from the Mission expression pedal seem to fix the problem for me too. The fix lasts until I power down the unit and power it back up so now it's just a routine thing I do until somebody figures out what the problem is.

I have mine set to bank and when I hit it by accident in the middle of the song it doesn't change the sound, it just shows the available presets in the bank. So all I have to do is hit the Cancel button on the top right. Hope that makes sense.

Apologies for double posting this issue but now I have new findings. So I've been having this problem and so far the only thing that fixes it is disconnecting my Mission EP-L6 with Toe Switch Expression Pedal. I have the latest firmware 2.01 and randomly when I try to switch to a different preset it won't switch, I have to wait like 5 seconds and then when I hit it again it will switch. I don't think it's a physical problem as all the switches seem to work, it's almost like something is still loading up and I notice the tap tempo light is solid in this "freeze" period where nothing will switch. Once the tap tempo light starts to blink then it will switch if I press on another preset. This happens when I have my Mission EP1-L6 expression pedal plugged in but when it's not plugged in there is no problem with switching presets. I tested it many times and it was consistently repeatable. Any ideas on how to fix this?

So I re-installed the latest firmware but it did not prompt me to update the foot controller. In doing some more testing, I found that switching between presets gets hung up randomly when I have my Mission EP1-L6 expression pedal plugged in but when it's not plugged in there is no problem with switching presets. Is this happening to anybody else?

I'll give it a try and let you guys know the results. Thanks for your time in helping me out.

Peter Hamm said he had the same problem at one time and he re-installed the latest firmware again and the problem went away.
