  1. Thanks, Glenn. Just placed my order. Looking forward to receiving!!
  2. Thx, gtrman100 . Very interesting, and not something I would have likely discovered myself. Why I love this forum -- people are so helpful. I'll test this for myself of course, but are you saying this is an absolutely consistent misconfiguration issue? That is, it is not an intermittent experience where sometimes it cuts out and sometimes it doesn't? If its a consistent result based on misconfiguration of stereo vs mono WAH, I will discover it in rehearsal long before hitting stage, and rectify with this simple change. If this is the case, I am feeling 99% better about gigging right away with the Helix.
  3. I don't see them on the CustomTone page, nor anywhere else. If history is any guide, Sean should be willing to share them out. When he was working at Avid, he shared a number of really great presets for the Eleven Rack -- and I still use several of them to this day. He's an awesome tone creator (and a fabulous player). Maybe Sean will pick up on this Topic Post and be willing to put them out on CustomTone. Sean? Sean? :)
  4. Haven't tried this with the Helix (not squeaking), but I had a similar issue with my HD500 and I used just a tiny bit of lithium grease. Worked great and never squeaked again.
  5. Having a great time programming patches for my cover/original project. The Helix sounds fantastic. That said, I’m a bit anxious about taking this live. I am trying to get some feedback from braver early adopters who have gigged with the Helix. I’ve done a bit of reading on the forums, and have seen posts where some people are experiencing complete volume drops when accessing the WAH pedal, and requiring full reboots to reset the device. I’ve also read of others having complete lockups. Obviously these can be pretty disastrous to a performance. I have not experienced the WAH issue (yet) – but I’ve only had the unit for a week and haven’t gotten to program many patches that require a WAH. I have experienced an occasional lockup, but this is more common when I am editing an advanced setting of an effect block, etc. Currently running version 1.03 – not quite ready to upgrade to v1.04 until some of upgrade kinks are worked out. Again, I am a bit conservative. But I didn’t see any fixes in v1.04 that addressed the volume drop. So – anyone care to provide some LIVE EXPERIENCE use of their new Helix?? Great, good, average, bad, indifferent --- all feedback welcome. Thanks!
  6. Ugh -- so this means my Roland EV-5 pedal won't work with the Helix?
  7. Hey Glenn -- can you drop a note in the forum when your screen protectors are available for purchase? Want to make sure I get one. And FYI -- great Helix patches. Downloaded last week and finding them very useful. As always, thanks for all you do for the guitar modeling community.
  8. Thanks Dave and Cruisinon2. Appreciate your insights and the time you took to respond. Happy Thanksgiving.
  9. Thanks for the input. Everything you say makes sense. I wouldn't create patches using the Global EQ, but was thinking that I could use the Global EQ live to better tweak to the room --- and looking for general rules of thumb, so to speak. What makes this so much more challenging for my band is that we don't rehearse at volume either. Because we rehearse in the evening in my basement (kids asleep upstairs), we do everything "silently". That is, our drummer has a Roland kit, and the other guitar player and bass player also go straight to the mixer via their modelers -- no amps at all. So we all use IEMs from the monitor feeds --- sounds like a rock concert in our ears -- but pretty much silent in the room (other than the tap-tap of the drums and unamped vocals). Again, not ideal, but works great for practice. This is also our live setup -- but with mains and subs facing the audience, of course. Audience response is that things sound great, but like any guitar player, I always want it to sound BETTER.
  10. Just got my Helix and having a great time building patches in preparation for live use. While I know it’s not ideal to build patches for live use using headphones, that’s what I have to do (think late at night, kids sleeping, wifey sleeping). Since the Helix has a Global EQ, I wondering if anyone had any advice on how I could use it (and set it) to help the guitar fit better in the live mix. Maybe a low cut filter (150Hz) to stay out of the bass and kick drum frequencies? A slight mid boost? Hi cut? FYI – I will run XLR outs of the Helix directly into my StageScape M20 mixer. Main mix feed out to my IEMs (so I can ATTEMPT to make mix adjustments while playing). Using L6 Link out of the M20 to Stagesource L3T and L3S for live sound. Sounds fantastic today using my Eleven Rack. Sure it can (and eventually will) with the Helix. I’m a guitar player, not a sound guy. That’s probably obvious. Thanks for any suggestions.
  11. Wow -- just checked Musician's Friend again this morning. My Pre-order just got pushed all the way out to Jan 11, 2016. I should be getting my unit from Sam Ash next week, so will likely cancel assuming its in good condition. But again, WOW --- this is absurd.
  12. Unfortunately this is probably all too true. I travel for work, and have visited at least 5 different Guitar Centers in the past month, in different cities. Not a single associate at any of these locations had any real clue about when they were getting units. Truth be told, not a single one of them had actually seen a unit firsthand. But its not their fault -- they can't sell or deliver you what they don't have. Instead, they have to say "something" to keep you hopeful. It sucks, but that's reality.
  13. Yeah that's frustrating. I did the exact same thing when I got the tip about Sam Ash having stock. I called, confirmed stock, and placed the order. Called back again today, checked status, and then finally got tracking information tonight. So I guess it was real after all, and my unit should be delivered on Tuesday Nov 24th. But I still have a pre-order at Musicians Friend (due Dec 11th now), and I won't cancel that until I take delivery of this one and test it thoroughly. NOTE -- when I called to check shipping today, another guy I spoke with said they had more stock, even though the website says "Out of Stock" now. Last night I was told I got the last one. Maybe not. Might be worth a call...........
  14. Not anymore. I just grabbed "the last one". Thank for the tip. I called them to place the order, and the sales guy was cool. But the Sam Ash call center is in CA and the warehouse is in FL -- so he can't actually "see" the unit with his own eyes. He assured me it's there and will be shipped out in the morning. Honestly, I'll believe it when it's on my doorstep -- and not a minute before.
  15. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like the Musician's Friend 12/4 ship date just moved out to 12/11. I know because I check it daily, awaiting my unit like you. I guess I'll have to wait another week until I give up my crack addiction!!! :)
  16. Unfortunately, I just got word that my Helix Pre-order at Musician's Friend got pushed out, yet again. Now mid-December -- but no faith that date will stand either. Respectfully understanding many of the responses in this thread that consider this manufacturing delay "normal" -- I think we can all agree that Line 6's inability to produce enough units prior to the holiday season (on a unit released in July!!) will affect their sales. Sure, they have tons of pre-orders, but just IMAGINE how many of these units would have sold already had they been able to stock brick/mortar stores and the online retailers. For every leap-of-faith pre-ordered unit, I would be willing to wager 2 or more could have been sold if it were in stores where it could be demoed and subsequently purchased. If this unit is as good as its been reviewed, imagine the sales if all the interested guitarists actually got a chance to play one at Guitar Center, Sam Ash, etc........... Normal or not, its a big miss on their part. My opinion. I'll continue to wait. My 11Rack will keep me company. :)
  17. I am still awaiting delivery of my Helix, but after reading the manual, I think the answer is technically "no", you can't save your own configurations per se. However, with so many blank user preset slots available, and the ability to copy/paste blocks---- nothing would prevent you from dedicating presets to copied blocks of amp/cab configs, effects configs, etc that you love. In fact, your question has inspired me to do just that, assuming I ever actually get my Helix (now hearing December!!!). What I might do is dedicate an entire setlist to this purpose. Fill that "My Configs" setlist with presets entitled "My Jump Plexi w/ Reverb" or "My Ping Pong Delay" for instance, and copy blocks into those presets. Then grab these blocks when I need them when building other presets. This would seem to serve your purpose, right?
  18. Thanks for the quick responses. Really does seem easy. Last question --- once assigned, if I want to go back and tweak those min/max values, do I repeat that assignment process or is there a quick way to view the existing assignment and tweak?
  19. Pre-ordered my Helix and still awaiting delivery. In the meantime, reading manuals and watching tutorials, etc on YouTube. Looks pretty easy to navigate and dial things in. I have one question regarding parameter assignment and the footswitches. Suppose I want to assign one of the footswitches in Stomp Mode to increase the amp's gain from 3 to 6, while simultaneously increasing the mids on the amp from 5 to 7 (i.e. dedicated Lead Boost footswitch). I think this is possible, but all the videos I have seen thus far show basic on/off assignment of the FX block. A couple of videos show how you could assign the expression pedal (learn controller) to change these parameters in real time. But can I assign those parameter changes to a latching footswitch? If so, how? That is, how do I assign the footswitch to toggle between Gain 3 / Mid 5 <--> Gain 6 / Mid 7?
