Just a thought -- you may want to look at 1964 Ears. I got a pair of A-3 IEMs from them that sound fantastic. Three drivers really made a difference for me.

Right?! We are not alone. This effect was super useful. I used it extensively in the GT-100. Very versatile.

Voted up, Dennis! Would be a nice addition.

Been rehearsing and gigging with the Helix since November. It's only just begun. You'll find more and more cool stuff about Helix as you go. Enjoy!!! :)

Yeah -- that sounded confusing -- sorry. What I meant was that with Slow Gear, you could continue to pick notes while the previous note was still sustaining - but you since you don't hear the pick attack, it sounds like the note never decays. If I use the volume pedal, the current note that is sustaining dies (I'm cutting the volume). I guess the best way to describe what I am looking for is "infinite sustain" without having to constantly pick. Perhaps I should just get an eBow -- probably why people use them in the first place. Bass player and drummer says it sounds great as-is. But they are probably just tired of me dicking with the Helix. :D

Hey Helixers! Any advice on how this might be replicated in the Helix? A little context. Doing a cover of U2's With or Without You. The beginning guitar part is normally performed by The Edge with the use of an eBow. This creates constant string vibration and a very smooth sounding "infinite sustain". I don't have an eBow -- but might spring for one. Before I do that, I've actually programmed a patch with a series of delays that comes extremely close to replicating that infinite sustain. However, as the note(s) eventually decay, I will have to occasionally pick the string again. I'm being a bit picky (aren't most guitar players) -- and I don't like the sound that the pick attack creates for this particular part. On my Boss GT-100, there was a cool effect called "Slow Gear", which produced a neat swell effect without pick attack. Any advice on how this might be replicated in the Helix? Prefer not to use the volume pedal as it kills the current sustain. Make sense?

Another vote for the JBL LSR 305's. I picked a pair of these for just under $300 for monitoring at the home studio. Also work great for patch creation with the Helix. They won't melt your face off, but that's not the goal. Accurate, affordable, sized just right. Put the $250 you'll save in your speaker budget toward something else (good cables, stands?)

I hear ya. Let me know how your upgrade goes, Colonel. If indeed the new firmware is published tomorrow. I am still on v1.03 -- too chicken to do any of the recent firmware upgrades with gigs pending. I've got about 5 or 6 patches exactly the way I like them and didn't want to risk something awful happening. Sometimes reading the forums actually scare me off from doing upgrades because you read the horror stories. After this weekend, I've got a month off from gigs so I'll probably step up and do it then. I'm also taking delivery of my 2nd Mission Expression pedal tomorrow. I'm going to make a pass at an "all-in-one" patch -- that is, dual amp models for clean/crunch, and program the 2 external expression pedals to alter a number of gain, EQ, Delay, reverb parameters in real-time. Ambitious to think I could use one patch all night long, but not crazy about the patch switching delay ; alternatively, getting the levels right when using too many patches live is always a challenge too. Ah.....first world problems.

Beat ya by 28 minutes, Colonel. :P

That's MY Helix, Ronda............

Can't comment on the accuracy, but I just got a notice that Sweetwater has Helix Floor Models in stock, as of 11;26am EST today, January 20th. I already got mine a couple of months ago, but for those that are still awaiting delivery from other retailers, it's at least worth a call to Sweetwater. Good luck! http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Helix

I don't believe that you can control the on/off status of a single block via two different foot switches. So, the short answer is "no". However, there are often some creative ways to work around things with the helix. While I obviously don't know your setup and if the following is viable, but you might consider leveraging a "mix" or "level" parameter via a footswitch. That is, a switch that is programmed to change a parameter that achieves a function similar to on/off -- like dropping its level to "0". For example, when you engage the overdrives, have that same footswitch drop the level of the crunch pedal to zero. Use another pedal to raise the level back to its previous state. Again, might not be the solution for you, but may get you headed in the right direction. I've had a few of these conundrums recently, and I can usually find a suitable solution given the flexibility of the Helix.

Okay - so my 2nd Mission expression pedal will be here on Thursday. If I understand this correctly, I could indeed use the internal expression pedal to control both the Volume and Wah as I do today, but instead both would be assigned to EXP 1; and the TOE Switch could be set to simultaneously toggle the volume/Wah on/off. This would allow me to use my two Mission pedals in the EXP 2 and EXP 3 jacks for other things (I'm thinking one to control a gain/mid-EQ boost and the other to control delay mix/feedback level). I get that right?!

Planned for release this month -- pre-order now and will probably ship sometime in 2018..........

No doubt that editing directly on the Helix is very easy and intuitive. The only need for an editor for me is to save having to bend over and do the editing, or optionally putting the Helix on your desk. But then you can't easily operate the footswitches. Its either bend over to make edits, or put on your desk, put then you have to stop playing to press the footswitches with your hands. It's workable for sure, but I for one will use the editor quite a bit once its available.

Wow!! I finally got my hands on a Helix. Put a little demo together...

I'd say this sounds fantastic. Great dynamics in your tones and playing. -
This is disturbing. While I have not experienced this yet (I use limited WAH, if that is indeed the culprit somehow), I am hoping to take the Helix live for shows beginning in January. I can understand the occasional bug, with workarounds --- that's part of the digital world we live in. But losing all audio during a show (and for robbieb61 --- EVERY SET) --- is completely unacceptable. This should really go to the very top of Line 6's bug fix queue. Can those that are experiencing this answer this: Does this loss of audio ever happen on a patch in which there is no WAH block at all? Like robbieb61, I have a WAH block in all my patches, though use the effect sparingly. Maybe I'll just kill the WAH block entirely for live performances and sacrifice the occasional WAH in favor of full-time audio.

Yeah -- love those tones. Please share on customtone. Dialed them in nicely.

That looks to be the case, as the website now shows "out of stock". Must have sold their units pretty quick. Not surprising.
-
Sam Ash is showing stock - no idea of how many or if it's even accurate. That said, I managed to score one from them about a month ago when the website showed "In Stock". Worth a phone call.............. http://www.samash.com/helix-floorboard-multi-effects-pedal-lhelixxxx

Received and installed, Glenn. Looks great -- and as you said --- looks like its part of the unit from the factory.

Well I received the Gator Gtour Pedalboard case, and first of all, I gotta say this is a really, really nice flight case. Great build quality and look. I feel much better with this protecting my Helix than any soft case. It's got wheels too -- and while no retractable handle, it is tall enough on end to wheel along without awkwardly bending. I'm 6 feet tall, so if you are taller than that it could be a bit awkward to wheel around, I guess. As for the fit, the Helix fits perfectly on the pull-out pedalboard tray, though it's the only thing you'll fit on that tray. So you may or may not choose to use the tray as it's function is limited. The tray's handles are nice (less chance of dropping the Helix) and there is a slight incline on the tray -- so that might be a bit better onstage. However, contrary to another reviewer (on some retailers site), I did find that the Helix is just a bit too tall for the case if using that pedalboard tray (without the tray, it's perfect). Even so, you could force the top down to latch it I suppose, but given all those multi-directional push buttons on the top of the Helix, I just don't want to risk any damage. I'm keeping the case -- because it is sweet. For now, I will not use the pedalboard tray during transport, but I will do some very easy customization to the case soon. If you basically lower the 4 rectangular foam braces that the pedalboard tray rests upon (an inch would do it), I know it would fit like a glove.

Word is Santa is bringing one of these down my chimney. And when I say Santa I mean wife, and chimney I mean FedEx. I'll report back after Xmas on how it works. I envision using this for all sorts of things, depending on the patch (delay feedback, univibe speeds, reverb mix, you name it).

Anyone that has completed this upgrade care to share their experience? No issues? And......if I didn't do the prior 1.04.1 upgrade yet, can I go directly from 1.03 to 1.04.2? Thanks.

I went with the Gator G-Tour Pedalboard too and it should be here early next week. I'll let you know the fit. The interior length/width dimensions seem perfect, but yeah, there could be headroom issue. Will let you know if I need to trim some foam.
