  1. Tonight when I plugged it in it worked fine with the new patch I saved to it last night. *shrugs* It's a Christmas miracle!
  2. Ok, he's a better example of the same thing described above. I tweaked my non-Variax Plexi setting to create the attached patch (Variax Lester Plex). I was using it when I had the HD500X edit software attached (obviously, so I could create/edit it). So I saved it to the Pod, saved it to my hard drive, closed the edit software, pressed the footswitch...and.....WHAT the heck am I hearing? Not at all what I was expecting for sure. It's barely even in the same family of tones. Attached is a recording of what I heard. Similar to what I described above, when I use the mouse to double click the patch in the Edit software, it sounds like what I designed. When I push the footswitch (even when the unit is still connected to the edit software) it is a completely different sound. I don't even have anything included in that patch to make the reverb last that long. The attached mp3 starts off with the patch selected via edit software, then swaps between making the selection with the footswitch and then with the edit software. Regarding firmware, I don't know what firmware I had when I originally created the patch, but according to Monkey, I'm up to date with everything. 3. Thanks hurghanico. That makes sense and I'll make note of the input settings.
  4. I don't know what was going on before or what changed now, but tonight is the first time it worked properly. I was at band rehearsal earlier this week and it did NOT work, and every time I've tried it before tonight since I purchased it a few weeks ago it did not work. I have no clue what's different now, but hey, I'll take it (as long as it keeps working). I guess issue can be marked "SOLVED", for now, anyway.
  5. I've searched for this topic and couldn't find it, but hopefully I'm not the only one that's experienced this. When I use the Variax cable and the Variax input on my HD500X the tuner doesn't recognize it, so I currently do not have tuner capabilities from the unit. I'm assuming there's simply a setting on the Pod that needs to be set to "Variax" but I don't know about it yet since I'm still a Variax noob (about a month now). Anything that I fiddled with didn't change the status of the tuner when using the Variax. Any guidance? Thanks. Dean J.
  6. Thanks all for the replies. Some things for me to check out, so hopefully one of them works for me. Much appreciated!!
  7. Does anyone still frequent these forums? Well I hope so...This issue is so strange I'm hoping someone out there can help me out. I recently acquired a JTV-59, and I've had an HD500X for years. I'm starting to setup some new tones to utilize the capabilities of the Variax. I created a tone that sounds fine when I double click on the HD Edit software, I save it to the HD500X, and everything copies over fine. But then when I tap the HD500X button it's assigned to (on the floor unit), it sounds different: noticeably quieter is the main issue, less gain may also perhaps be part of the problem When I switch between the two with the HD Edit software connected, I don't see any setting changing on any of the pages, but it's clearly doing something different between the two methods of arriving to that same patch. What the heck is going on?? Patch is attached. Tele-Dec2024.5xe
  8. Mine was doing that and I got a new power supply. Seems to fix it.
  9. Thanks! These instructions did the trick for me! Next time my expression pedal craps out AT a gig I'll know how to fix it right then and there.
  10. I have a 25+ year old Peavey Bandit as well. I was using that on an amp stand as my guitar monitor up until a few months ago when the band purchased the mixer than can handle multiple monitor mixes.
  11. I agree. ANY type of guitar monitoring system should be pointed up to the ears...it only makes sense. Just say NO, Trouser Flappers!
  12. Well dang, some of my best writing was at the end of that original post...and you missed it! :D
  13. Thanks for posting that, it seems to make sense to me to keep things quiet on the stage, but other than a during college I've been at this cover band stuff for only about 5 years.
  14. I think his point was he feels the sound would be better balanced for the audience if there is also sound coming from the stage, not just the mains. I don't agree with that theory. And if he can't hear me it's literally a matter of saying, "Hey Paul, I need more guitar in my monitor" and Paul will change the mix of the bass player's monitor, that shouldn't be an issue. Unless he can't hear the monitor very well because he has his bass amp behind him...turned up...facing the audience...and it drowning out his floor monitor. *shrugs*
  15. Maybe we'll keep that for "Plan C". :)
