Helix LT stuck on Boot Failure, not recognized by Line6 Software
SaschaFranck replied to joshn16's topic in Helix
Oh, if you are on Windows, make sure to either reboot before using the updater or kill the HX Edit task in task manager, otherwise the updater likely won't work at all or not properly. -

- Do a full reset (if possible) - Download Line 6 Updater (if you haven't already) - Download the FW flash file (if you haven't already) - Try performing the update via Line 6 Updater and the locally saved flash file Good luck. -

I think they should do that. Maybe along with taking at least a little bit more care about what's generally happening here. At least sometimes, all personal niggles aside, I think it's a rather educated discussion about all things Helix, with some quite experienced users being part of these discussions. Apart from that, not sure whether (and if so how much) it's related, but the L6 server sometimes doesn't seem to be in the greatest shape one could imagine. It didn't happen just once that people at least temporarily bricked their units because HX Edit wasn't able to finish whatever updates - which rely on the server to work properly, at least while retrieving the crucial files. There's also some messed up manual downloads every now and then. Etc.

Yeah, as said, happens all the time for me as well. Regardless of the browser I might be using.
-
All the time. I can tell my browsers and this site to stay logged in - no way. Hasn't ever been much different, but yes, it's getting even more, sometimes I need to re-login just because of jumping to another topic.

Post them on Ideascale first: https://line6.ideascale.com/ Then possibly use this thread here to somewhat promote them so people will upvote your ideas:

Tried it in pretty much every position. The only way it's not as warbly is when you massively cut the highs before running into it. Which pretty much defeats the purpose of it simulating a down/up-tuned guitar. Personally, after all the pre-release-talk, anything polyphonic pitching is, well, rather dissapointing. I'll probably be using it for some weirdo FX or shimmery delays/verbs, but others than that I'm not willing to sacrifice my patches for it (pretty much none of them would allow me to even add it as they're using plenty of juice already).

I can download the 3.0 DMG just fine from Line 6 - no idea why it wouldn't work at all.

Poly sus, is there a way to only output the wet signal of the effect?
SaschaFranck replied to marshallsp's topic in Helix
I'm not sure what your question means. Are you talking Poly Sustain? That is 100% wet already. So what are you planning to do with that signal? -
Hmpf, I really wish I could use an IR as a cab in an amp/cab block. That'd make *sooo* much sense along with the new user defaults... Guess it's time to pay Ideascale a visit.
-
Sure, that's the normal way. But I was thinking whether it'd work the other way around. As in patches (or setlists) created in, say, FW3.x and then loading them in FW2.x. I thought that way it wouldn't work.
-
In case it clips with the suggested Input Pad on, you must have a guitar hotter than hot.
-
Oh really? So in case I create a patch with 3.0 using just older models, that patch would be compatible with older FW versions? I thought that was different and the patch was kinda "tagged", so it'd only load in FW versions as new or newer.
-
My guess would be that the patch would be not compatible even if it was empty. From all I know, there's never been downwards compatibility of Helix patches.
-
Guess you'd have to update your Helix - as I'm sure that's what rd2rk already did.
-
When you use "Route to" as a target, the control assigns automatically come up as in the picture I posted. So it's not *that* much of an effort (yet, doing it via bypass straight on the split would be great as I could then exclude it from snapshot bypass - which isn't possible this way).
-
You don't need to control the bypass status of the switch (I really wish it was that easy, would allow for some more trickery, too) but the value of the slider. Take a look:

PolyPitch won't properly work with certain harmonic input, completely regardless of the guitar and pickups used. Play a 4-part voicing containing a minor second interval (common thing would be a first inversion of a drop2 maj7 chord, such as E-B-C-G for a Cmaj7) and things will start to be way off. Even with plain sine wave sounds as an input source. Besides, latency is really tough to deal with for me and the sonic qualities of whatever guitar are brutally mangled too, as there's no formant correction. Don't get me wrong, on a parallel path it's fine to get some shimmer reverbs/delays and such, but in any 100% wet setting it's not ready for prime time.
-
Fwiw, when you restore a backup, it also allows you to only restore your old global settings while leaving everything else intact.
-
Yeah, that's great. And I've always been with Tito83 on that one, because it was crystal clear from the first day he mentioned it that he was spot on (unfortunately I just couldn't tell him). That might change some things in the way I do patches (so far, I keep everything at 1M fixed). Just starting to organize things a bit, but the single most biggest improvement should be user defaults and favourites. Defenitely the Princess - in case you're even remotely interested in thick and juicy clean(-ish) stuff.
-
Yeah, I would actually have to agree on all accounts. In case the previous version of HX Edit *does* say there's an update (it didn't for me because I never bother to log in, so I actually wasn't aware of what happens in case it detects an update), it should perform an auto update of itself as the first thing. It's exactly like that with plenty of things you need to authorize software (Waves Central, Native Access, etc. - basically everything). So, sorry, my previous comment wasn't actually meant to be personal or whatever.
-
Well, none of them transposes even just slightly more complexed chords properly.
-
I usually try to stay away from snarky comments when it comes to these very things (in general/broader discussion topics I absolutely don't mind - or even like some snark...), but seriously, isn't it astounding how many people are buying a rather high end computational device without being able to read the most basic instructions about how to operate it? I mean, what font size should be used for people to understand "STEP ONE - Update HX Edit (Do This First!)"? Like 200? Maybe there should be some autoplay audio message (ideally overwriting all your computers audio settings so it's played back through all available devices at full volume simultaneously). Or whatever. But it's a really interesting observation nonetheless. Sorry, carry on....
