  1. i´d like to hook it up that way and for my acoustic send the signal to the pa only without sending sthg to the amp can i have it set up like this and internally store, weather i send the signal to the main out only while the xlr outs are muted or to the xlr outs only while the amp out is muted...? or do i need to sacrifice a loop for that puropse...? thanks!
  2. ;-(... a little poor for a 1600€ unit...
  3. can you tell me...can i store different fx-loop locationes in each scene, or can i only store it globally...? thanks
  4. i know what a humbuster cable is...but you said, it needs a TRS jack socket to work...so tip-ring sleeve, as i said - stereo jack..as the humbuster cable is inserted f.e. between an output jack and an amp input jack - i guess the TRS jack won´t be the amp input, but the helix´s (f.e.) output jack...???
  5. so the only question is - are these stereo output jacks on the helix...??? i´m doing hard to believe the only thing that fractal offers here are stereo jacks...i mean they shure applied for a patent, isn´t it...? just with a stereo jack...???

    Helix FAQ

can helix supply an extrernal unit with power via a 7 pin midi cable...? thanks for info!
  7. why does it actually makes sense for the helix rack version, and not for the floor version....?
  8. thanks....do you think i´m not aware of this possibility...? question: what does helix want to be? A: an all in one solution B: part of a complicated gear setup but if you really wanted to help me - honistly thanks...i am aware of such solutions....excuse me beeing a little sensible, but from my point of view i´ve just placed a very usefull request and for that i get flooded by everything from primitive to stupid and totally needless answers which i´m really tired of...instead of just saying "thanks for your idea..."...such things are really ruining such forums - it´s a little sad and a pitty!
  9. But yeah, if one requires eight simultaneous effects and true bypass, it's hard to beat FX8 right now... oh...helix (with true bypass....) would have easily beaten it...by far! ;-)
  10. guys like you are ruining the forums...thanks!
  11. the point for me wanting true bypass is not noise or ground loops...it´s AD/DA conversion having bad influence on signal quality and tone...
  12. do you comppletely read other posts before answering and then take a litlle time to think about it....? i guess not...for you once again: i want exactly helix with true bypass and analog dry through...i don´t want an M13 with many mods...i want helix with all his great features with true bypass and analog dry through...is this clear for you now? ...and please - as i said - i don´t really need such great answers...just leave my post be, if you´re not really having an input...it´s not a strange request i have, not very hard to understand...if you don´t care about it - fine...just leave this thread and read another one...but please - don´t tell me, what i´m searching for cause, i do know very well what i´m asking for...
  13. ok, seems you don´t want to understand that there are guys running a setup like this: rjm mastermind or another expensive midi board switchblade or other switchers many fx pedals in front of the amp tube amp one or another rack fx for post fx incl. line mixer power amp and real cabs ...and that they would really love to get rid of parts of their really heavy, big, professional gear and buy a helix instead...and that they could propably live with helix´s fx quality, they´d really be happy about some extra features like the amp sims etc...really happy about the very good midi board...very happy, that helix offers 4 loops, and they´d be incredibly happy if only helix would offer the same signal quality as their setup incl. soundsculpture switchblade and line mixers... can you imagine that it´s not enough for them if you say "you could buy an M13..." does it really need so much fantasy for that...? if it does: here it is once again: me and many friends and colleges of mine (incl. many pros...this seems to be very important for some guys here....) have been very excited, when we saw the helix presentation...and we said "sh..., that´s exactly what we´ve been waiting for...and it looks just perfect!"...we´d really love to buy exactly helix with the addition of true bypass for pre fx and analog dry through for post fx...ok? is it ok for you to stop wondering why i want helix and tell me about other gear, because i propably know about every alternitive on the market...i´ve owned a switchblade, but it simply is too big and heavy for me...i own an M5 and M9 and use it just for pre fx, because it has true bypass! maybe this would also reduce many very, very funny comics and other answers here on the forum, which only lead to wast of time... thanks p.s.: i´ve already started an ideascale request
  14. yes, you are rude and unrespectfull...yes, i´ve got enough experience with such things...i´ve just overflew the fx8 manual...why shouldn´t i believe what they´re writing...and they write "true bypass"!...yes - like many, many others, i´d be willing to replace my very heavy, big and expensive, but very, very transparent sounding pedalboard incl. switcher etc. by helix...yes, i´m earning my money by playing guitar professionally...so - yes, i think your answer is not very proliferous, sorry...but thanks for the explanation, how pros do it...
  15. you mean what fractal audio sells as their revolutionary invention will work with any output jacks...?
  16. sorry...but i think you´re still ignoring my point: most guitarists only use maybe a little reverb or delay 95% of the time...me, like others including the very best professional guitarists know - we don´t need to discuss this - nothing beats the sound of a short cable going directly into a tube amp. so the goal is to get as close as possible to a short cable directly into the amp! - again: no discussion!!! so me, like others that spent very much money and time to build pedalboards incl. switchers etc. to get as close to that pure tone as possible (true bypass, analog dry through!), are really willing to replace our big and heavy, but very, very good sounding boards...(here´s mine f.e.) ...by helix. so yes - of course - our goal is not having a board that´s more a DAW than an M13, but it is to ...i´ve said it before... and...i don´t need 17 fx at the same time...adrian belew might need that, ok, but as i said - most guitarists need maybe 2 or 3 fx at a time - and that in the fx loop for 95% of the time! seems the guys from fractal began to understand this after many, many discussions on their forums as well... and just the fact that there´s no loss of highs, that doesn´t mean the tone stays as good as plugged directly to the amp!!! so for me it´s very clear...the very best all in one solution (of course i´m talking about still with amp and 4CM!), like helix wants to be it - it should have both: true bypass or at least analog buffered bypass without AD/DA conversion for the pre-fx and analog dry through for the post fx...then i´d totally freak out - believe me!
  17. any chances sthg like that could be achieved in the helix...?
  18. fractal audio really took the problems with hum and ground loops using the 4CM very serious when they developed fx8...? they´re offering what they call humbuster outputs etc...all i´ve heard in these regards from the helix up to now is "it´s working great in 4CM"...sorry, but that´s been said about many products... something like this noise test would be very interesting f.e....;-) https://soundcloud.com/fractalaudio/fx8-noise-test
  19. oh yes, i can...;-)...i´ve read the manual and it says "true bypass"...if you say, it´s not...o.k. - no idea why they can say so, when it´s not...really interesting...didn´t anybody on the fractal forum ask them...?...but i think the more important part here is AD/DA conversion..., isn´t it...? what does the line6 management think, Digital_Igloo...?
  20. the point is not the buffer...nothing against a buffer, if it sounds good...it´s AD/DA conversion!!
  21. i don´t really get what you´re saying here and i´ve also got no idea how this is technically done, but what i want is a true bypass from the first main input to the amp send...the fractal audio fx8 has got this feature, maybe ask there...?
