did you try a short, single cable in the fx loop...nothing else...? that way you could figure out, if the noise really comes from the fx loop or from the pedal...

Helix 4CM Amp Switch Mesa V:25 and Mesa Mini-Rect Not Working
rudomat replied to GadgetGuitar's topic in Helix
no...!! there´s problems not only with the mesa, but also my vox amps f.e....i have immense ground loops and in case i´d cut the ground it popps really loud when switching, so you can´t use it without ruining the amp....;-( it seems only ring is ok, but tip doesn´t work... the really sad thing is, this seems to not be a software, but a hardware problem...i can´t understand, why they don´t use relay switching like every serious switcher!!!! so since i´d fear they won´t make hardware updates, this is really, really sad....!!!! -
are these available for download somewhere...? thanks

are these available for download on the customtone page or somewhere else...? thanks

why should it make any difference, when you use the XLR out with mic level instead of line level, if the board can handle it...? that doesn´t make sense to me... i think our units have some hardware problem...mine is producing sounds like the old zooms as well, plus some other problems: 1. when i first tried it in 4CM, i found it´s doing some kind of decent boost, whereas many others stated, they don´t hear any difference compared to unplugged... 2. it´s also producing some noticeable noise (of course more noticeable on distorted channels) when connected in 4CM...others said, it doesn´t.... 3. when i tried to connect my amp with helix for switching, using a stereocable as well as with a monocable, it produced horrible noise...when i cut the monocables´ ground, it then worked ok, except for a pretty loud popping noise while switching...this also shouldn´t happen, as support told me... 4. i´ve had some problems while upgrading...sometimes it´s been freezing, and the helix app didn´t import my old presets and was afterwards freezing as well...of course i lost all my presets, that i was working with in 4CM...;-( this all plus the fact that the presets sound very, very cheap...fizzy and harsh sounding...exactly the same as others posted, leads me to suspecting, there´s something wrong here... pretty disappointed....;-(

do you maybe have some body ir´s to share...?
-
i´m actually not sure, if my unit is working the way it should...are there some videos, where somebody plays one stock preset at a time, so that i could compare mine...? if i let the unit do the upgrade, does it automatically also load the newest presets...? a place for sharing presets, like fractal offers it, would be cool as well...;-)! thanks
-
i have exactly the same...though i can´t be sure, how it sounded before the upgrade, cause i only played it in 4cm...but now i tried the ampsims and they sound terrible...! any news herfore...? best!
-
that would be great...! or has anybody got a good ir for acoustics and would be so nice to share...? ;-) thanks! http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/acoustic-amp-model-aer-compact60-for-helix/795597-23508?submitted=1

after upgrading to 1.04.1, i can´t import my bundle that i exported right before upgrading...also, what´s strange is, i can´t close the helix app...i downloaded the app once again, but it doesn´t make any difference...when i try to import the bundle, after a while it says "request for device operation failend; returned NACK" i think a bad mistake of mine was, that i first installed app version 1.2 for windows7 instead of windows10...after i realized this mistake, i installed the right version for windows10, but it still doesn´t work.... any hint, what i could do...? should i go back to version 1.1 of the app and try it...? ...try it with firmware 1.04.1? (with 1.1 it worked fine with firmware 1.3...) thanks
-
sorry...that´s been a mistake...i´m running windows 10...
-
yes...after latest upgrades...it says "request for device operation failend; returned NACK"...;-( the newest heloix app is simply not working on my windows 7 pc... is it ok to try it with helix application 1.1...?
-
...that´s really bulllollipop!!!! all my presets gone...!!!
-
did you try it, going guitar directly to the front input, and then compare it with either a short cable connecting the send and return or on the other hand with helix totally bypassed in the amps´ fx loop (of course with the helix fx loop on)....? with the helix in the fx loop you don´t hear the difference between no global eq and with a global eq high shelve filter set to 8kHz...? thanks!
-
no...my fx loop works on instrument level...i know my settings are correct here...so you guys don´t hear any difference between the global eq set off compared to a high shelve filter set to 7kHz...???
-
as far as i know, there is some buffer boost in helix, right...? couldn´t we get control over its´ settings...? i´m really having some issues with a little too much boost in 4cm (with everything bypassed of course...just the connections...)..now i know that my amps´ fx loop adds some slight boost to the signal, which i can´t turn off....maybe that´s just a little too much boost in addition in my case...now it would be great, if i could adjust some buffer boost settings in helix...or at least try to turn it on/off...
-
no problem...no idea, weather it´s algorythmic or not... the only thing you got to realize is, when you switch to wah, you´re automatically on max gain...i´ve installed a minus boost of 6 dB or so on one switch for the case i want wah on rhythm volume level...
-
i hope it´s gonna bring us flexibility in programming the expression pedal curve...? (not only logarythmic, but different curves and mid points a la axe fx...)...and for any parameter...at the moment, logarythmic is only available for the volume pedal, as far as i know... and a much better harmonizer plus detune block, and an auto wah...;-)
-
...don´t you think so...? it´s really annoying, that anytime, you change some fx, you then have to go the the controller menu again...that´s confusing very often...
-
what i found out when using helix in 4cm...first it´s really making lots of noise, especially on higher gain channels...then, especially on cleaner channels, i noticed some kind of unwanted boost in the highs... i guess this must be some buffer boost, that you can´t alter or turn off... now i took the global eq and cut off everything under 80 Hz and everything over 6,5 kHz...that really helped a lot to make it sound more like my amp does without anything connected...plus the noise is also much better... so i guess some amps will need a little different cuts (my amp is a trainwreck clone...), but i´m sure every amp will need some cut...
-
i´m having a pretty loud popping noise when switching my amps´ boost function...at first i actually had an incredibly loud noise when i connected the helix with my amp, then i cut the ground on the cable and now this works great...but still it´s popping really loud when switching... are these relay switches...? thanks
-
...ok, i see...then they should definitely improve that by firmware upgrade!!!
-
...now that´s what i thought...now i must say, this doesn´t really work constantly, so i´d guess that´s a bug....;-( as i said...sometimes, when i recall the preset, it comes with 0dB, sometimes with +4dB f.e...
-
can you set the unit, so it reads the actual state while recalling....? if not - how do you store the recall Levels, while you have an Expression pedal working as a volume pedal...? thanks
