Hey there Joel - yeah set the mix to 100% (with the Pitch Shift right at the start of the fx chain) and it sounds like a bag of arse.(like Gunpoint says, wackiness and warbles ) Gonna try again using GS187's settings. Really hoping to get this to work as I really enjoy jamming to some SRV but hate having to tune the guitar down. I really like my guitars strung with 10's ( Elixirs ) but just find them to be a bit too "frooby" when tuned below standard. Was much better with 11's but I didn't like the feel of 11's as much as 10's

hey there Glenn, Cool "running into you" on this forum. You helped me out a few times with some good advice on the old GT Central forums ( was a GT10 user back then) and it's always nice to see some of that old crowd on other forums. Have you got any vids uploaded of you using the Pitch Glide effect as you mention above 'cos when I try it just sounds awful. When you say set the pitch setting to -1, do you mean -1 or -0.1. Neither of those settings sound like 1/2 step sown to me , but the -1 setting is particularly terrible. If it works for you then I gotta be doing something wrong somewhere.

Been testing out the POD HD tone conversion tool ( the one stickied at the top of this forum) to convert a load of old HD 300/400 and 500 patches for use on my HD bean. The 500s have all converted with no problems (as far as I have noticed) However, when I try to convert 300/400 patches a couple of odd things happen a) all deep amp edit parameters are set to 0 b) most,if not all, of the fx are turned off when the patch is loaded ( often with the mix set to 0 too) turning on the fx activates them except for those where the mix has been reset ( turning these fx on and raising the mix has no effect all and the fx remains inaudible. c) on many of the patches the cab defaults to the 2x12 Ported cab. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to get the patches to convert " unchanged"? cheers porcs

Again thanks for the replies. Haven't tried changing the Z yet - still set to Auto, so will have a little tweak with that. Hey there Gunpoint - no I don't think there's a problem with the pick ups ( though I will ask my tech guy to check them out ). The guitar sounds great through my amp ( digital not tube ). Again, the actual guitar tones through the POD are great - there's just this "soft attack" effect that occurs when using this particular guitar. I have re-read my description of the tone of the pick ups and I wasn't quite accurate. The pick ups aren't "hot" ( so not good for metal/djent ) but still hot enough for Classic/Hard rock. The tone quality with the pick up volume " cranked" would be almost Les Paul-like but with a little hint of Fender wide-range HB on top (so a bit more bright and "open" than a Les Paul but certainly not "ice pick" highs). As you lower the volume of the pick up it stays open/bright with not much "muddying" high end roll-off.

Yeah tried adjusting the noise gate settings and still notice this "problem" purely on the one guitar (I pretty much don't use the compressors). As I mentioned, the pick ups on the Yamaha aren't particularly "hot" - certainly not as hot as the Burstbuckers on my Gibson. The pickups (Seymour duncans) have quite an "open" sound " so I wonder whether the signal hitting the POD is maybe too "pure" - the pickups on my Tele and my Gibson can both be quite "gnarly" when cranked whilst the Duncans on the stay quite open and clean.

thanks for the replies guys. interesting that it seems to be your older guitars that don't quite work with your PODs whereas, for me, it's my newest guitar (with "higher spec" pickups) that doesn't seem to work so well. my old Washburn works really well with my amp (Blackstar ID 15) and my POD.....yet it didn't seem to work to well with my older Tube amps ( Blackstar HT40 and Laney VC30). very odd indeed.

Have been using my POD HD for a couple of years or so mainly using my Gibson Les Paul Standard and my Fender Tele - both guitars are completely stock ( no mods and the original pups ). Once I got the POD dialled into each guitar I have been completely happy with the tones I get. However, I have recently begun to use a couple of different guitars and have discovered something odd. One of the "new" guitars is actually the guitar I've had the longest ( bought 2nd hand in 1989 - it's a '85 Washburn G20v, a "Super Strat" style guitar with 2 HBs ( stock Washburn HBs ) which can coil tap to SCs. This guitar sounds amazing through the POD in both HB and SC modes (hell, I've even got some really cool 80s "Hair Metal" tones from the JCM 800 model which I have never liked when using the LP or Tele. The other "new" guitar is a new Yamaha Pacifica 611 - which comes stock with a Seymour Duncan HB (which coil taps) in the bridge and a Seymour Duncan P90 in the neck. These I would regard as "higher spec" than on any of my other guitars ( many players swap out the stock Pups on Gibson and Fender guitars ). This guitar sounds amazing through my amp but my POD absolutely "hates" it. The actual tones are pretty good (once dialled in) but there is a noticeably "soft attack" when I hit the strings. It's like there is a slight "lag" between hitting the string and the note sounding. I haven't a clue as to why this should be. The pick ups aren't particularly "hot" nor "modern voiced" (more classic/hard rock/vintage voiced) Could it be that the PODs don't like "higher spec" pick ups. Anyone else had a similar experience.

+ 1 to using the mid focus EQ. I'm only just beginning to use this particular EQ but I'm liking what it can do to shape the tones. It is used quite a lot in many of the factory presets on the HD "Bean," and Pro/500s too, but for some reason I would never use it when building my own tones. Have primarily only really used the Studio EQ " Low cut" parameters to lessen the "flubby" low-end on some of the Stack amps ( particularly the Marshalls / Park models ) but have now added the Mid focus EQ to my sound shaping palette.

OK ..... I know bumping your own thread is a bit of a forum faux pas but this is bumped for a particular reason. I was re-searching the old forums and found the post when I originally requested the presets from the HD 400 ( v1.03 & 1.1) and it was a chap called Line6Perry who graciously sent me a link to download these patches as bundles. Unfortunately, as with most of the others on the old forums, the link was dead. Not sure if the old Line6******* guys still hang out on the forums ( or even occasionally just check in ) but I would greatly appreciate if any did ( L6Perry in particular) and were able to help out with my "odd request". There were some great tones in the 400's set lists which I would love to retrieve. Thanks once again - and sorry for the "bump" Porcs

Hey there Folks I have a slightly odd request that I hope someone can help me with. Does anyone have ( and can post ) tone bundles for the HD400 v1.03 & 1.1 firmwares along with the tone bundle for the original version of the HD 500 tones. I have the HD bean but find most of the presets fairly awful but really loved some of the presets on my old HD 400. What I had hoped to do was to manually input the tones onto my "bean" and save them as a tone bundle. I did have all the tones saved but have lost them all due to a major computer death ( and loss of the memory stick I had them backed up on). I have searched the old archived forums but a lot of the links no longer exsist. Hopefully someone out there still has these. Thanks Porcs

Just using the POD to get your synth sounds onto your DAW (Riffworks) should work fine - though I'm not certain ( i'm not all that tech savvie) but wouldn't using the Y cable into the POD cause your stereo signals to be "summed" to mono? Someone who is a bit more of a "Teccie-bod" might be able to figure that out.

I have hooked up an old Casio keyboard (not a synth) to my POD HD desktop, partly to use the POD as an interface to get some keyboard parts onto a couple of tracks I was working on but I also experimented using the fx from the POD to "edit" the on board tones of the Keyboard. Using the POD as an interface worked very well - no problems at all (not that I expected any since it's a fairly simple process. Using the POD to alter the on board tones was a little hit and miss (some of the fx didn't track too well or react as expected with a "non-guitar" signal) though I did get some fantastic sounds using some of the modulation/delay & reverb fx and a few of the filter fx (used sparingly). I'm a big Gary Numan fan and was able to get close to the "classic" Cars string sound (Polymoog Vox Humana) and some of his more recent "Virus" faux analogue synth sounds ( Numan famously created a lot of his early synth tones by putting the synths through Guitar fx pedals so perhaps this is why I got close to the tones I was after). I.also put some basic percussion/drum loops through the POD and got some interesting results.
