bobwilken
I am trying to record into logic Pro X .. I would like to record both a wet and a dry track simultaneously .. when I'm writing / recording songs i can usually find a preset or build a patch close to what I think would fit the song I am writing ... but as you know later on when you start adding drums , bass , vocals etc... sometimes the patch you liked doesn't really fit into the mix and you need to go with a slightly different flavor. so I'm shooting for the best of both worlds a patch I think would suffice on one track and then a clean dry signal on the other track that I can re-amp or run through Pod Farm 2or other amp simulation plug-in. but try as I may .. I cannot get the dry S/PDIF Signal out of the Pod HD500x my set up is the Pod HD500x - into M-audio Projectmix I/O -into Logic Pro X on a 2009 Mac Pro running OS X Mavericks. Logic Pro X does not get the S/PDIF signal. the 500x , the Projectmix and Logic are all set to 48K sample rate the 500x S/PDIF output is set to "dry input" The Projectmix S/PDIF clock sync source set to external .. no matter what I do I don't seem to be getting a S/PDIF signal out of the 500x .. I even bought a digital coax to analog converter and ran that straight into a powered speaker .. and still nothing... any suggestions would be appreciated... I suppose a workaround could be to set up 500x patches with a dry left and wet right routing .. and route them to record them on 2 separate tracks .. but I can't even seem to figure out how to do that inside the 500x
MartinDorr
I thought reading something way back that S/PDIF does not work if USB is connected (because it provides digital output/input). Just a vague memory; could be something totally different ... Good luck, Martin
silverhead
Try this patch setup for the wet/dry signal recording using just the HD500X via USB to your DAW. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/217206/
duncann
I use the digital out all the time with the usb connected. No problems with that. There is a system setting where you can adjust the spdif level, which defaults at 0dB, and can be increased by 12dB. It's in the same place as the sample rate setting. Other than that, it could be a hardware problem. On my unit, the digital out sometimes cuts out when my foot touches the exp pedal. Could be something to do with static electricity. To fix it, I just unplug the digital coax and plug it back in. Sound always is back then.

Good luck, Martin That was an excellent suggestion ....never even occurred to me.. unfortunately it didn't work ... but thanks for the idea .. at least it opened me up to a different thought process. I had that turned up to 12db ..but no luck i'm starting to wonder if there's something wrong with the unit .. it shouldn't be that difficult to get some kind of signal out of that port ... but i am getting absolutely nothing ... not a hiss , not a buzz , not even static or noise. yes my USB works .. but there's no option for unprocessed dry signal like S/PDIF what is your set up .. what unit are you running your coax into .. duncann
It's going into a cheap coax to optical converter, and then to a computer sound card with an optical input, then straight to reaper via the soundcard's asio drivers. It was worth a shot but I didn't think boosting the spdif level would do anything, especially since 0dB is quite loud to begin with. Something else that might be worth a try is resetting the global parameters by holding the left arrow key while powering on the unit.
