maxnew40
I just bought a used JTV 69 from a local guy and it has the older firmware as he liked the strat sounds in the older firmware better. I bought it as a backup to my JTV 59. My question is am I going to have any issues updating the firmware for this guitar? Does he have to unregister the guitar or anything before I attempt to update the firmware? I asked him if he registered the guitar after he bought it and he said that he didn't think so. I asked him if he could go to his Line6 account and somehow indicate that he sold this instrument, but he seemed reluctant to do it and I think he probably won't do it. -Max

You need to be logged in to download stuff, but I don't think it matters if the product is "registered" officially at all. I guarantee not everybody who owns one registers it...and I'm sure most have updated firmware at least once.
Triryche
+1 You could try to register, if he didn't, it should let you without issue.
