HonestOpinion
I have been asked to sit in with a friend's band for their ailing guitarist. They seem to have chosen a lot of tunes that require sax solos with no sax player. I could use a guitar synth for the sax parts but if anyone has a preset or some suggestions on how to get a sax-like sound on the Helix I would prefer not to have to use the guitar-synth. Does anyone have a saxophone preset or some tone shaping suggestions? Thanks.
hideout
Unfortunately, the Helix is not a synthesizer. Maybe... maybe, if someone was really truly creative using the effects blocks in ways they were not meant to be used, somebody might come up with something resembling a sax-like sound. Gawwuf
I have a GR-55 for sale, it will give you a sax sound, and thousands of others! :)

Gawwuf
I know it's extra gear to carry but you are not going to get a better sax sound than that out of your guitar!
cruisinon2
Just play out of tune, and blame it on your pick...it'll be just like having a sax player. ;)

hideout
If any of you are ex-Boss GT Central forum members, there was a gal on there named Gem who had created a very innovative sax preset on here GT-8. It was really very good and if played correctly, it was at times, fairly convincing. I was very impressed by her very imaginative use of the GT-8's abilities. Ebusje
I'm sure it will be possible. Maybe ask this guy Glenn DeLaune, he made an awesome Hammond Organ patch. Listen to this :
Graemey
Not trying to over simplify here, but I find subtle use of a trem arm for up-bends etc helps witt sax phrasing. Use your hands, some fuzz and a little imagination. More fun than looking for a synthesized sax preset.
