the29band
I got my new JTV69S yesterday. Not sure if this is a technical issue with the guitar but the low E string has a weird boomy sound to it. It lacks sustain, is louder than the rest of the strings and sounds out of tune (even when tuned properly). This is even more noticeable when playing with distortion. Now, there is a some buzz with that string so I am not sure if that's what's causing it. I am wondering if there are any issues with that piezo. I can try to post some samples tomorrow. I have owned a JTV before and never noticed this prior. Also, I have reflashed the firmware. I am running 1.90 on it. Any thoughts?

Charlie_Watt
Does it do it with the mag pickups? You need to determine if it is mechanical or not. No it is not normal even though you will see that several folks have issues.
the29band
I think I hear some of it in magnetic pickups as well. I am thinking I should get the action adjusted to remove buzzing and then test it out. Thinking it might be the buzz causing it.
Charlie_Watt
You need to have no fret buzz. Get a good setup done and your problem will go away if it's there on the Mags.

Charlie_Watt
I had to raise the Low E and A strings just a tad at the bridge to get rid of a slight buzz on mine when I got it. Play it without plugging in and make sure there is no buzz at all when you play it the way you normally do. Raise the action if necessary, adjust the truss rod if necessary.
