valena
I just bought a JTV89 and realised that while in pickups mode all strings sounded OK, in Variax mode the volume of the G string was considerably lower (almost half) than all the other strings. I checked the strings' volume at Workbench and all strings were at 100%. I temporarily lowered the volume of all the other 5 strings to half volume until I find a proper solution to the problem. Now all strings sound equally loud but I am not satisfied at all with this. Any similar issues?
silverhead
It's not uncommon to have to use Workbench to level the string volumes, but your case sounds extreme in that it only involves one string and the variance is so great. Try loosening the G string and inspect/clean the nut and saddle seating. There may be a small bit of dirt or dust affecting the string vibration. If that doesn't help try replacing the strings. If it persists it may be a bad piezo. Open a support ticket.

On some of the models (Strat and Tele, especially), I've got the wound strings set considerably lower than the rest, particularly the low E and A strings...depending on the model, sometimes as low as 50-60%, with the treble strings at or near 100%. Now you may have a malfunctioning piezo if it's just the one string, but it's not at all unusual to have to adjust them. That's why Workbench is there.
