Stringbender94
Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone knows how to get a great metal/djenty tone with this amp setup. Thanks in advance!
BillBee
Your best bet is to use one or the other. Either the Spider, on its own, or the HD into the FX loop if that amp has one. Both do metal quite well.

cruisinon2
How would I use the FX loop on the amp? Guitar--->POD--->FX return
Stringbender94
Guitar--->POD--->FX return I don't think there is an FX return on the Spider IV 75. I searched the amp and there is no other port to plug in except 'guitar'

The Spider amps are really intended to be stand alone units. Throwing the POD in the front end of the Spider is going to be noisy, and will make dialing in patches on the 500X that much more difficult, as it will color the tone significantly. You will effectively have two pre-amps daisy-chained together...it's a mess waiting to happen. You're gonna be better off looking into other amplification options for the POD. BillBee
HD -> Powered Speaker, Power amp/cab, Head/cab (into fx or 4cm), Combo (into fx or 4cm). 4CableMethod btw. or Use the Spider. Never did the spider one myself but what the Brazzmaster sez is true 1/4 guitar cable with adaptor (whatever size) into the mp3 input. I feel its not a long term solution but it may give you a feel for a Powered Speaker or Traditional amp style cab. -B
cruisinon2
What do you recommend? We could discuss that for the next 6 months... You could use a traditional guitar amp (combo or head/cabinet) that has an FX loop, any FRFR powered speaker(s) (which is my personal choice), a pair of studio monitors, or flat response studio quality headphones...and there are 7000 options in each category. It really depends on what you intend to do with it. Playing only at home, gigging, recording to a DAW, etc etc.

It's definitely the power section. I don't know about the Spider IV but the Spider Jam has a CD level setting. It's possible it's like the my Spider III 15 amp and it's wide open so if you go into the CD/mp3 jack make sure you have the master turned down on the amp and on whatever instrument you plug into it first so you get a loud pop. AlexKenivel
You plug the speakers straight into the pod.
Brazzy
You plug the speakers straight into the pod. It almost sounds like stringbender94 is using a laptop and is trying to monitor with those speakers. If this is the case I would forget about the computer speakers and get at least one powered speaker and use the 1/4" l mono analog out from the pod

I just assumed he was talking about a desktop computer and had some external speakers. Those work in a pinch, but yeah, they're are tons of better options
