Aargh, the Helix has made me co-dependent!

I am coming to the unpleasant realization that the Helix has made me feel co-dependent. The thought of being without this thing for even a brief repair causes anxiety.  My wife is getting jealous. I have backup equipment but nothing short of a second Helix or maybe an AX8 would make me comfortable as  a backup after gigging for a while now with the Helix. I am attached at the hip with this "play"-thing, she is my "Lucille". I have never been so attached to the sound, consistency, and ease of use of one particular piece of equipment.  I have other amp-pedalboard setups that I love  but the prospect of having to do a gig without the flexibility and the tone the Helix delivers is absolutely repugnant to me now. Way to go Line6!

I know exactly what you're feeling.  I keep my HD500X around just in case, but I dread the thought that I might have to resurrect it should my Helix go down.  At this point I'm not even sure I'd know how to program it!!!

MEDIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Totally agree with the Honest Opinion.  I'd feel pretty lost without my Helix live now. I haven't even done the 2.01 update because of that fear.  I too kept my HD500 as a backup, and have it setup as a midi controller to my 11Rack which is always in the mixer rack.  It would get me through a gig for sure --- and I used to LOVE my 11Rack -- but now it would be like kissing my sister.........

Personally if the Helix was not light years better than the HD POD I would not have one. I sort of been-there-done-that on the POD thing. L6 had lost me as a customer until I really got a dose of how well they did the Helix.

The Helix has a much better level of tones. I have a GSP1101 with floorboard that is basically new, I just paid it off when I got the Helix because it was such a decent deal. I like the 1101 myself, it has some clean amp models I just love but no where near the options the Helix has. I also had an Atomic Amp for a brief time, great amp models but the effects were not outstanding and limited in scope compared to the Helix ability to use multiple blocks of same effects. The atomic had this annoying clock tick in the background that was a deal kill for me.

thanks for the WARNING!

When I got my HD500 I was having so many days off I wasnt earning enough to live.

But somehow I got by. My income went down for years.

There is a correlation between time spent on playing guitar and making music and income for me.

I am a sole trader and if I have hard days at work I dont feel like getting on guitar. I need to be well rested for guitaring.

But as I have a Herlix in my sights I have hardly been playing any guitar and you guessed it, well over $10k per month now and hitting $15k. I also need to move house.

I know what I am like and once I get the Helix my income will crash, probably for about a year and I'll just subsist out of necessity. doing the bare minimum to stay afloat. LOL too true!

While not a great business choice, there is JOY and there is HAPPINESS and isnt that what we are really striving for a successful balance.

(I tell myself this now but once I am gob smacked with the Helix my priority will change. to really justify the purchase I tell myself I'll start playing live again. LOL)

So what we all really need is a second Helix. In normal use it's that extended MIDI controller with scribble strips that the footswitch-starved among us have been craving, and worst case, it's an awesome backup rig.

On that note, wish Helix could back up and restore directly to and from a USB stick.

Glad to know I am not the only one who feels this way.  All my old "snapshots" used to be of friends and family, concerts, beaches, mountains, and rolling hills. Now they are of phasers, overdrives, and amp models. Please don't include a Cortana or Siri type voice in any future firmware updates or things might just get weird. I'm already talking to my Helix when no one is around, thankfully so far, she has not answered back  :D
