Indianrock2020
I normally set up patches in my hd500x on a song-by-song basis, picking the guitar model along with amps, effects etc. If I wanted to switch from one guitar to another mid-song, what is the quickest, most reliable method? I could kick on another patch but that might not be as seamless as I'd like. Twisting the model knob I guess is the other option. This is usually when the 2nd half of the song calls for more gain/drive. So far putting an OD in front of the amp and kicking it on at the correct spot is my practice, just looking for other ways to get more gain with a different flavor, quickly. brue58ski
If you're using the HD500 to get to the first guitar then you set your Variax with the knob on the model type and the switch ONE click/switch away from the model you want to switch to in the middle of the song. If you want to switch back, I would put both guitars in one of the Custom banks, right next to each other so you're just one click away from the next guitar. So, for example, you'd put your Les Paul bridge on Custom 1-1 and your Strat bridge on Custom 1-2. There, one click away.
cruisinon2
If you want seamless transitions with minimal tap dancing, and/or fiddling with knobs, then a dual-amp clean/dirty patch is really your only option. Assign each amp to the expression pedal, and use the mags for cleans, and models for the dirt (or vice versa, your choice). Or use models for everything and switch manually with the knob...but that's a little more moving around.
Rewolf48
I set gain, amp tone knobs, etc on the expression pedal so rock forwards for high gain and back for clean - with all the tone knobs being ,oved you can change the sound quite dramatically Or if your expression pedals are used there is the old classic solution of the volume knob which with a JTV can control eq or tone knobs as well
