Zcano
I just bought the unit today (April 1, 2017) with a lot of enthusiasm and expectations, but I ended very upset. I tried every single thing I could read in this forums but nothing worked. So I guess I will have to return the unit this week. It is very sad that this things are still happening. Why the new units being sold in 2017 can't have already the new flash installed? The version 2.62.00 was released 4/9/15. If I return the unit for a new one will happen the same? What chances I have? I have a MSI GE62 2QD Apache Pro laptop with Windows 10. The unit has the Flash Memory v1.00. I have the Line 6 v4.2.7.6 Drivers. It's being detected correctly in the Device Manager. I updated without any problem to the USB Firmware v1.04. So it communicates correctly with the unit through USB. What I tried so far with no luck at all (I tried more things but this ones are the ones that comes to my mind at this moment)... - Using P25-1.10.phf, P25-1.20.phf, P25-1.30.phf, P25-1.32.phf, P25-2.61.phf, P25-2.62.phf flash files. - Using Monkey 1.71, 1.72 and 1.74 - Using all my USB ports available. - Disabling the Antivirus and the Firewall. - Entering in "NORMAL" mode - Entering in "UPDATE FLASH" mode (Power Up and Nav Pad Down) - Entering in "SAFE MODE" mode (Power Up and Nav Pad Right). - When asked to keep the existing patches, selecting Yes and No. - Using "Update Selection" and "Update from file" options. - Also did the FACTORY RESET (Power Up and Nav Pad Left). - Installing/uninstalling/reinstalling software/drivers. - Rebooting Windows. - Tried everything several times. I guess no one will have any answer to help solving the situation, right? :(
Rewolf48
This is a User Forum for self help. If you want direct support from Line 6 which is reasonable if you just bought it, then raise a Support Ticket: http://line6.com/support/tickets/ What really puzzles me is that you say it is an HD500X and has flash memory of v1.00. That is very unlikely indeed - the HD500X was a hardware update from the HD500 and retained the same firmware version numbering - I am pretty confident that the firmware was up to version 2.00 when the HD500X was launched. Even the very early HD500 models would have been on firmware 1.10 - mine certainly was back in 2010. It is impossible for an HD500X to have flash firmware version 1.0. If you hold down the View button for a second or two until you get into the utility menu and then use the pad to get to screen 2/12 what does it say for FLASH FW? That is the firmware it is running. Zcano
Hurghanico, I forgot to say that I already tried in 3 different computers. Two laptops and one desktop computer. Rewolf48, about the firmware, if I look into the unit (holding down the View button) it says FLASH FW: V1.00, USB FW: V0.00. In Monkey, the USB firmware is 1.04 (I also tried downwarding to 1.01) and the FLASH firmware is 1.0 (and sometimes unknown while trying to uodate it). Strange for a new unit. I guess it is a defective unit, so this week I will return it to the store. Thanks both for your replies.

pianoguyy
Plus, buyer assumes that the unit he was sold was bought by the store that sold it to him in 2017. It is quite possible that he was sold a 2014 unit that was sitting on a shelf for 3 years.
Zcano
Pianoguyy I'm quite sure that the store is not who sold me an old unit because still was in the box that they received directly from YAMAHA MUSIC EUROPE shipment, and the date was January 31, 2017. It was sealed with the original labels on it. What I also see in the label from YAMAHA MUSIC EUROPE is that the unit description is "POD HD500X INT P25-1", so I guess P25-1 is refering to a unit with the original firmware. :(
bjnette
Sorry to hear. The good news is, it is still under warranty. Personally I consider a faulty unit upon arrival as an unacceptable business practice. Unfortunately we live in an automated age where the Quality Control is being dumped as a function onto the purchasing customer as a business model. It is heart breaking for the unlucky few who get these lemon duds off the production line. A big expensive car manufacturer just the other day has a mass recall of their latest model on a safety issue. In this day of companies getting or having a market share and the cost involved in selling their goods; if they only knew the damage to their goodwill (and future business) a faulty unit produces they would put in QC as a function. But alas all to often a product rolls off the line, is packed and sent without ever being checked if it works properly. It seems that adding to the cost of the unit for the QC doesn't make economic sense and in lieu it is cheaper to make the customer the QC and provide a warranty service instead. This is what happens when Accountants run a Production line.(Nothing against them neither; tax specialists help people) Then you have the showroom or retail shop who don't send returned units back to the manufacturer but swap it out. Staff changes etc. Imagine a music shop just reselling the same old defective unit long out of production due to lack of care. In this day of Industrial Espionage the corporation itself is it's own worst enemy just on QC. Fortunately, as a HD owner for about 4 years now and a frequent forum visitor at both the new and the old site the percentage of this happening is very, very seldom. The good news is, it is still under warranty. Though it is still unacceptable to be the brunt of a lemon/dud.
Rewolf48
Thinking about it the only way that I can see FW 1.0 being reported and the firmware updates not taking is if the unit is faulty with something connected with writing to the flash memory. The update process "completes" normally but nothing actually changes on the device. Line 6 always updates the firmware, even going as far as doing updates to boxes in the warehouse and HD500X was never released with firmware 1.0. But if the update process is failing due to a hardware fault then the default firmware would be retained no matter how many times it was updated - including when Line 6 did it! Take it back as faulty and exchange for a new one.
Zcano
Ok, I come from the store. The unit was definitely a defective one. I was lucky they had another one that they just received from YAMAHA MUSIC EUROPE. So I asked them to do the update there in the store just in case. Again, the unit came with the Flash Firmware v1.00 (in the box again said "POD HD500X INT P25-1"). But this time, the USB Firmware was v1.04 (in the defective one it said v0.00 inside the unit and v1.00 in Monkey). Finally with this unit the update process had no problem at all. And now at home I just opened EDIT without problems. Still I can't believe they are sending units of the HD500X with the Flash Firmware v1.00. pianoguyy
I didn't say it the first time. But since you repeated yourself, I will say it this time... "POD HD500X INT P25-1" does not mean it came with 1.
