Update firmware

Hi

I'm a complete newbie with Line 6 equipment so please excuse my ignorance.

I've just purchased a Helix LT . It has version 2.12 firmware so it presumably needs updating to 2.20.

What software do I need to download to my PC (Win 7) in order to do the upgrade?

Do I need to save the factory presets or do you get updated presets with 2.20?

How exactly do I do the upgrade?

Sorry....told you I was a newbie!

The factory presets change from update to update, appearing and disappearing, so if you are particularly fond of any of those specifically you may opt to back them up. Otherwise, if you don't have IRs or presets of your own then you are correct, no backups necessary. Do note that your global settings will not transfer, so if you've done any tinkering in there that you want to preserve then make sure to take some notes.

Some have reported better results when using Chrome Browser than Windows Explorer Browser. If you have Chrome, give it a try. Also be sure to use a main USB port, not a remote nor hub USB port.

Thanks for the advice. I do use Chrome so hopefully all will go well!

How does one backup presets?

You need to use the Helix editor/app - the version that is compatible with the firmware installed on your Helix device. For instance if you are running the latest firmware v2.21 you need to use the Helix editor v2.21. Using the editor's Export function you can backup individual presets, setlists, or the entire bundle (least useful imho).

You can find th editor/app by selecting Helix in the middle (software) field of the download page.
