Phil_GMC
Hello folks I just did a firmware update on my Helix LT, it says that you should put the factory and user patches back in. I did back them up but they are still showing in the editor anyway. Do I have to overwrite them with the latest editor? Cheers Phil
silverhead
Did you do the global reset after the firmware update, as per the instructions? That should delete all previously installed presets and install the new factory presets.
Phil_GMC
Thanks for your answer, I thought I had followed the instructions but maybe I didn't. I can't recall anything about global reset but I can recall something about resetting global eq. Maybe the Guinness that I'd had before hand confused me. I'm not home until this eveing but I'll take a look. I don't recall anything specifically explain how to do a global reset though. Cheers UPDATE: I've just found the instructions online. Ooooops, I remember now, I saw that great big bold red writing but didn't do it. I'm blaming the Guinness not my lack of intelligence :) I'll do the global thing tonight. One other thing, do got have to do incremental updates or can you just put the last one on? Cheers
HonestOpinion
Make sure you back up all your presets and IRs first, they will be deleted. Also, take note of your global settings as they will need to be reset. Global reset = HELIX FLOOR/LT ONLY: While holding footswitches 9 and 10 (middle two switches on the bottom row), turn on Helix. Wait for the message “Will reset Globals and restore stock Presets, Setlists and IRs…†to appear and let go.
Phil_GMC
Thanks, please see the update in my post above. I haven't messed with any global settings yet so I should be ok. Thanks for your time :)
HonestOpinion
Hello folks I just did a firmware update on my Helix LT, it says that you should put the factory and user patches back in. I did back them up but they are still showing in the editor anyway. Do I have to overwrite them with the latest editor? Cheers Phil One more note, I notice you mention putting the "factory patches back in". A firmware update overwrites the two Factory setlists and the Templates setlist with the latest factory presets from Line6. Although some users do back up their favorite factory patches be aware that firmware updates sometimes include either brand new factory presets or modifications from Line6 to the old ones. If you restore your factory presets from the prior firmware version you will overwrite the latest updated factory presets from Line6 with older, possibly deprecated presets. IMHO it is better to save factory presets you like or have modified to a User setlist so that you can take advantage of the latest from Line6. In other words, for many users restoring Factory presets is unnecessary. Many users here back up and restore their User setlists and let the firmware updates manage the Factory and Template setlists. As noted here already, if you see User presets after you have done your firmware upgrade that is a dead giveaway that you need to do a global reset (backup everything first). DunedinDragon
This is probably why they advise surgeons to not drink Guinness while performing operations.... ;)
