noledoc
So I am a newbie, have had the helix for a couple of days running 4CM in various guises through a Bassbreaker 15.. Now I am intrigued by FRFR possibilities.. My home stereo is almost like a PA system. Remote turntable/preamp into a Denon Pro Audio wireless transmitter then wirelessly to separate power amps at each speaker. The Denon transmitter accepts XLR line level inputs, what do you think of sending XLR out from Helix into one channel/speaker via the wireless transmitter? Power amps are class D 500 Watts, speakers are large with integral amp/subwoofer. I am worried about ruining an expensive system, but it seems like buying a powered PA speaker with included amps etc is duplication of what I have. silverhead
Assuming your wireless transmitter and speakers can manage stereo I think this should work fine, technically speaking. Your Helix settings and presets will likely need to be tweaked, perhaps even completely reworked, to get a good sound from FRFR (or as close to that as your speakers are). The difference between your current amp/4cm setup and FRFR is significant and will require preset changes. You may want to maintain separate setlists for the two setups. TheDaveDaveDave
You really don't need to worry about damaging your speakers or any of your home stereo components - they'll be fine. What I would worry about is the latency between the transmitter - if the delay is any greater than 10 or 15 milliseconds (YMMV), you'll feel it. The only way to know for sure is to just try it out. If possible, I think you'd be better served by hardwiring the link to your speakers. Hope this helps,
rd2rk
Having discovered that my wireless headphones (Sennheiser RS185), which employ 8FSK transmission, have a 45ms latency (per Sennheiser Tech Support), I'm wondering if the Denon system, which employs GFSK transmission, would also have such latency? I tried to research this, but it's all technical gobbledygook to me.
noledoc
Thanks to all Hooked it up to the Dennon transmitter, stereo preamp in R channel and Helix in L channel. Strange volume things happened when playing the guitar. Changed the Denon transmitter to Mono -- things worked perfectly. Guitar and mono turntable output to both speakers with good sound quality! Simple preset from scratch with clean tone was easily Adjustable to sound close to clean amp. Have not tried to optimize overdrive or stereo input to transmitter, but so far this is a really amazing unexpected benefit to the Helix. Can't comment on the latency concern, as a newb it felt OK, but better players might find something noticeably annoying. Again, thanks to all Noledoc
TheDaveDaveDave
Hey, if it feels right, it's all right! Congrats - sounds like a great way to play! Perhaps you can get a small mixer so that you can hear both your stereo and the helix in stereo? Something like this? http://www.markertek.com/product/mx124/rolls-mx124-promix-iv-portable-4-channel-field-mixer-battery-or-ac-operation?utm_medium=shoppingengine&utm_source=googlebase&utm_source=google&utm_term=Product_Target&utm_campaign=Shopping+-+Pro-Audio&utm_medium=cpc&utm_content=q7lUqvWD%7Cpcrid%7C74923785980%7Cpdv%7Cc%7C&gclid=CjwKEAjw3drIBRCOwfC-_qqyjQ8SJADvoWQp8MhgWwNWDAbe82Mk_y6xdsEHtI8wZfhIXNBgioBqTxoCaa3w_wcB
