Updating the Helix

Hi all!

Okay, this may sound like a novice question, but here goes..

My Helix is currently on Firmware 2.01 - I'm wanting to update it to the latest firmware (2.21)

Obviously there have been loads of other versions of the firmware in between those two, that I've missed. Can I just update straight to 2.21, or am I supposed to do each update in sequence?

I was about to update it straight to 2.21 because that seems like common sense, but I'm leaving for a 4 month contract in Dubai on Thursday and don't wanna risk bricking my Helix right before I go haha.

Thanks!

You probably know all this, and it is documented, but just in case...

If you have presets and/or IRs that matter to you, be sure to back them up BEFORE updating. You should also record your global settings. All that stuff gets forgotten during the update cycle.

After backing up everything with your current Editor version (the one matching your current firmware), make sure you download the latest 2.21 version of the "Helix" app. Make sure you backup the individual setlists as well as a bundle. Install the "Helix" app and it will place the latest version of the Updater, Editor, and Driver on your computer. Only then go for the firmware update and follow the release instructions closely which will include a global reset. Do another set of backups after you have upgraded using the latest 2.21 Editor version.

Although certainly not before your departure later this week, newer firmware (versions 2.30 and subsequently 3.0) are forthcoming. Line 6 has not announced any schedule for these releases. Hopefully, by your return in October, firmware 2.30 and the accompanying newly revised Helix Editor will be available.

Have a great trip, and if you encounter any difficulties installing the 2.21 firmware, make sure you phone Line 6 directly so they can get you squared away before you leave on Thursday.
