d0stenning
Here's my calculation and explanation/guess for the delay for when HELIX Native getting released: It is due to the HELX Editor gaining a new look and features which will be in all respects but the DSP and audio engine - almost identical to HELIX Native. Why ? for the simple reason of keeping software consistent, in sync- ensuring as little duplication of effort - and of course to minimise software maintenance issues. But my other prediction is that - since we normally see the HELIX editor updated for every firmware release - L6 are going to make the occasion of the release of HELIX Native also the occasion of the release of whatever the next release of HELIX firmware contains. I also predict that the next firmware release will be....... Version 3.0 :) Anyone want to send me a bottle of Lagavulin if I prove to be correct ? :) Now as to what is in the next FW release I have no clue or ideas. Only my own ( IdeaScaled ) wishlist ;) ( MIDI-CONTROLLER Block where all footswitches become MIDI pedal ) https://line6.ideascale.com/a/idea-v2/802355 Presets for each effect type block https://line6.ideascale.com/a/idea-v2/870115 HELIX Editor: Show every snapshot as 8 separate buttons - not a drop-down https://line6.ideascale.com/a/idea-v2/864575
phil_m
Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but I think DI has pretty much stated that's not going to be the case... I mean, they are going to update the editor, but it's not going to be released simultaneously with Native. And there will be a new firmware update, but not simultaneous with the release of Native. Native is in beta right now, and they're methodically working through bugs. I think the big thing is that it's just a powerful and deep plug-in with a lot to work through. Consider that the development of the Helix took five years. Porting that over to a plug-in isn't simply a matter of copying and pasting...

MusicLaw
Also announced, by DI or Frank, is that only after Helix Native has been released -- and is stable in the hands of users -- will the next firmware version 2.30 be released. And, if I recall correctly, Helix Editor was mentioned as being slated for release with Firmware 2.30. Firmware 3.0 would follow some time thereafter. There was no mention of subsequent series 2 firmware after 2.30. Nonetheless, the possibility of remedial or corrective patches to 2.30 could introduce additional interim releases. At Winter NAMM 2017, Line 6 was stating and showing that the forthcoming Helix Native's User Interface would be applied to the overhauled and revised Helix Editor (to the extent that the feature sets overlap).
