BeerHump
Hi guys, I've been happily using my POD HD500 trouble free for at least 5 years - until a week or so ago. I've got pretty bad eyesight so I only ever use the POD HD500 Edit program for working on presets. I'm on PC running Windows 10 with the latest release running. All patches are applied automatically. I went to adjust a setting after not having edited anything for a month or so and when I tried to alter the order of the FX, drag and drop no longer responds. Everything else is fine, like adjusting volumes, tones etc. using the mouse. If I select an effect block, the black arrow appears above it, but if I try and drag that block, the arrow disappears and nothing happens - no vertical bar to show the new location, the block stays put, nothing. Drag and drop Is working fine in Windows and other apps. I've tried: changing the mouse (bought a new one) changing the USB cable (bought a new one) Uninstalled and reinstalled the editor several times Reinstalled the drivers and all components are up to date Changing USB ports And I don't connect via hubs or boosters. Straight in. I've got a ticket raised with support who have been trying to help, but seem to be at a loss as to what's wrong. Any suggestions are gratefully received. Thanks all. bsewart
I wonder if running the program in compatibility mode would help? right-click the icon and choose "troubleshoot compatibility" and try some options.
joel_brown
Dumb question but, have you rebooted the computer ? Not a restart but a shutdown and startup.

bsewart
you can set win10 to auto apply patches and reboot automatically. It is almost basically the default. Try disabling them or turning off updates completely, and see how hard it is! :-)
pianoguyy
Oh. So, you aren't talking about HD500 patches (also called presets and tones).
BeerHump
Hi guys, thanks very much for the replies. bsewart, thank for the tip on right clicking the desktop icon. I can't believe I'd forgotten about those options, but I had. Tried everything I could think through the options, but the problem remains. joel_brown, yep, restarted a number of times. I've done the cold boot thing (completely power down and disconnect from power), the restart option (which apparently closes Windows more thoroughly than a normal shutdown ref: How-To-Geek) and tried wake-ups from sleep and hibernate modes. No change :( pianoguyy, no I'm talking Windows 10 patches/updates. As bsewart mentioned you can set up auto updates in W10. You do it through the Settings area. The only unusual thing I noticed was when I uninstalled HD Edit again this morning (using the Line 6 Tools utility) was that it had a problem "deleting files associated with POD HD500 Edit". I've attached a screen dump showing the message. It reinstalled fine, but the problem remains. I was able to post the screendump file into the browser using drag and drop as per usual. This has got me totally stumped.
sys0556
I have same problem too. It's very uncomfortable. I can't put preset files into HD500x by drag and drop. Did you solve this problem?
hurghanico
Copied and pasted from here: Windows 10 Drag and Drop not Working Windows 10 Drag and Drop not Working Fix Press the key combination of CTRL + ALT + Delete on your keyboard and choose Task Manager from the list. Select the Details tab and look for explorer.exe. Now, from here on you will no longer be able to see these instructions, so we suggest you copy them down in order to continue with the procedure. Once you’ve copied these instructions somewhere, where you’ll be able to see them, and once you have located explorer.exe, right click on it and choose ‘End process tree’, as shown below: The desktop will have disappeared by now – no reason to panic, this is why you copied the instructions. Click on File at the top left of the Task Manager and choose Run new task. In the box that appears, enter explorer and click OK. You should be able to see your desktop now and will be able to drag and drop your files as you please, without experiencing any more problems. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
