bobruz
Anyone take a crack at Lifesons' rhythm and lead tones for this tune? Sorry, my error....Distant Early Warning tones are what I'm looking for eh. Edited May 23, 2018 by bobruz Calrification
brue58ski
I know what I would start with. The info is sketchy but try a Marshall plexi or JCM 800 (2204). Chorus of course and heavy delay and reverb. Maybe even a Hiwatt with a distortion box in front. At that time he used a couple of different Marshalls, a Galien Kruger and a Hiwatt. Usually he used a JC120 for cleans. One "trick" to try is to separate the amp and cab and put the chorus between them. Good luck.
tedulrich
Call me crazy, but I'm trying to visualize the tone in my head but I can't recall a Rush song by that name. Are you referring to Distant Early Warning?

As mentioned by Ted above, are you looking for Distant Early Warning? Red Sector A? Red Lenses? There was a lot of red in Rush's 80's tones. I've got a couple of decent mid-career tones that I built for my AL Custom Paul. I'll dust them off in the next couple of days. PM me your setup as these are pretty rig-specific. brue58ski
Personally, I had Distant Early Warning in my head when I offered up my suggestions. I forgot there were so many "Red" songs on that album.
