williammusic13
I use audacity to record my guitar and before I bought the LT I used a Katana for a couple of years and never had a problem. But anytime i try and record guitars with the helix it sounds like it changed pitch a couple of steps down and I have no idea why or what’s causing it. I record one guitar and it sounds perfect , I try and record a lead part over it and it’s pitch has been lowered and sounds horrible. Any help/tips/suggestions would be amazing as I only got it yesterday and I love the sounds but if I can’t record I’ll have to return it. Ive also tried changing the sampling rate but nothing changes. It’s always like a step down in tuning.
rd2rk
That's just bizarre! Check your signal chain from guitar all the way through your DAW. What DAW are you using? Maybe some sort of pitch shifter/key changer has snuck in somewhere? It's certainly not a Helix bug that I've ever seen reported before. EDIT - missed where you said you used Audacity. Don't know anything about that one, I use Reaper, LIVE and Sonar, and have played around with ProTools and Cubase.
cruisinon2
Are you saying that everything sounds normal in real time as you're playing the lead part, but listening to the playback of both tracks sounds off? Just trying to understand exactly what's happening. Also... I'm assuming that this is a traditional guitar and not a Variax, correct? williammusic13
Yeah an ibanez AZ plugged into the helix then usb to laptop, same setup with Katana but different results. If I record one track it’s perfect then I’ll try and record another over it and it’s downtuned, any more than 1 track and it does it. Even if I put a backing track in the first guitar I record will be downtuned. I downloaded reaper and it seemed to fix the problem, no idea what was up with audacity. But if you tried another DAW and the problem went away, then it's not the LT. Weird...

For what it’s worth you will possibly be off off using a dedicated DAW like Reaper. Audacity is freeware developed and maintained by volunteers. Audacity is the sort of thing that I have only ever used as a “file chopper”. One feature that appears as a bullet point on the old SourceForge page for Audacity is this. “Numerous effects including change the speed or pitch of a recording” Yeah, right! Just the sort of thing that you don’t want happening with a DAW.
pazhaniyappa
Use the ASIO drives for audacity and reaper, you should face any issue, default audio drivers will cause the issue which you are experiencing, for eg. after recording delay you will find all the notes are sounding off best etc. select ASIO in audio preferences will fix this issue. Thank you !!
