How to input backing track audio?

Hey folks!  New Helix owner here - and luvin it! :)  I am trying to figure out how to send audio in from my phones earphone connector into the helix so that it is a separate audio stream from the guitar audio.  I tried AUX IN but it seems to send the audio through the guitar effects chain.   Any ideas?

Thanks for your help!

From what I understand, if you have an iPhone, you can get the camera connector kit, then set the USB 1/2 Destination in Globals-Ins/Outs to whatever Helix output you want to hear it on (default is Multi) which bypasses the processing blocks. If you don't have an iPhone, I imagine there's an equivalent for getting data from the phone to a computer.

The obvious way provided by the Helix for incorporating tracks without processing them in the signal chain is the through the USB interface.  As rd2rk mentioned, there is evidently a camera kit for the iPhone to connect to the USB port.  Likewise there are other cabling options for tablets that would provide the same interface.

If you don't have an iPhone or something with USB support, you can use a stereo return block at the end of the signal chain (you can mix it with the guitar signal) or you use a separate path(e.g. path2B - Input: return1/2, not multi - Output: as you like), then you have "a separate audio stream". For stereo you need an Y-audio cable 3.5 mm Stereo jack to 2x 6.3 mm mono jacks.

...In a separate path you can also select the AUX as input (but the Helix AUX is only mono)

Hi,

Just for clarification, I would guess that you mean either "Soundflower", "Soundflowerbed" or even "Loopback" - all of which would be unnecessary on a Mac as Helix shows up as an 8 in/8 out USB device. On a Mac you can play all your iTunes, YouTube, and backing tracks straight out of Helix without issues.  Furthermore the OP states using the earphone socket on his phone, although he doesn't specify a brand. If it's an iPhone then the Apple Camera Connection Kit is the simple solution.

Hope this makes sense.
