ledvedder5150
I'm interested in getting a setup at home for editing, with a pc and some affordable monitors. Nothing overly fancy. I don't even know where to begin. Can you guys help me out with some suggestions as far as what type of pc (laptop or tower), what hardware (daw), and decent monitors? ledvedder5150
I ended up getting Kali Audio LP6 monitors and a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface.
silverhead
The Helix is itself a very capable audio interface. You don't need the Scarlett.
ledvedder5150
The Scarlett was included in a discounted bundle with the monitors, so I figured I'd get it. I also got a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M30 headphones.
silverhead
As you get familiar with your new gear for recording I suggest you compare the capabilities of using the Helix vs. the Scarlett as your audio interface. Helix supports 8 channels over USB allowing you, for instance, to simultaneously record a stereo processed guitar track, a stereo processed vocal track, as well as the dry mono guitar and vocal tracks for potential post-processing with a DAW-based VST like Helix Native. (The DAW is your recording program, whatever you choose that to be.) I doubt that the Scarlett can do that; it can likely only simultaneously record the Helix-processed mono guitar and vocal. ledvedder5150
It's the Helix LT.
