Send/return issue

It's not possible to add Send/Return and Looper blocks within Helix Native. Those are only present when importing an hardware preset (but they do nothing, since there is no hardware for those functions).

Native, being a plugin, does not have hardware sends and returns. That's why you can't add an S/R Block.

To do what you want, you'd need to put your preamp before the input on your AI (audio interface). To avoid the AI's preamp, your AI would need to have an "INSERT" input, which not all AI's have. It might be possible to set the AI's input to INSTRUMENT, but you'd need to check with the AI's documentation to see if that cuts out it's preamp, or just changes the input level. Most decent AI's have relatively clean preamps, but the higher the quality of your AI the cleaner the preamp will be.

Are you trying to connect a real-world, hardware preamp? Or do you mean you're just trying to route one of Helix's built-in preamps into the cab block? If it's the latter, all you have to do is put the preamp block before the cab block in the signal path. No need for anything else.

The manual explains it here:
Page 35 - Editing Send, Return, FX Loop & Looper Blocks

plus Helix Native has it’s own section here:
