cwhitcher69
Ok, I have used a helix for the last 4 years with great success and just bought a HX Effects to put in my live rig using the 4 cable method. I was using the Helix for this but it's a bit overkill and I thought I could use the HX Effects for all my needs in smaller package. Not working out! This thing needs to go in the trash. I cannot for the life of me to get the thing to stop feeding back through the effects loop. The effects loop block is sucking the life out of my amp. I've got my global input to Inst, output to inst, send and return to line. I have to turn the return in the FX loop down -15 to -20db to keep it from screaming with feed back on my Friedman BE 100. The Amp has a return level knob that I have to back down to about 4. This never was like this when I used my Helix for effects in 4 cable method. Ive updated to the newest release and now when I go to switch snapshots there's also a slight delay between. What am I missing here? Why is the fx block feeding back? Is it time to send this back? silverhead
As I understand the 4CM the Send from your HX FX goes into you amp’s Guitar In jack. I believe that should be set to Instrument level, not line. Don’t know if that will fix things but there’s currently a level mismatch at that point in the chain. cwhitcher69
Where’s that specific parameter changed? That also means using another block in the chain because the fx loop block is together. I will have to ditch a effect and split the loop into a send and return. I’ve messed with all the global settings with no luck.

Try Global Settings -> Ins/Outs -> Send Retrn 1 (on page 1) and then Send Retrn2 (on page 2) Helix Effects Owner’s Manual page 39. 4 cable method - full diagram on page 8 same manual. 4 CM Template included in the factory presets on your HX FX hardware in the “Templates” section. Hope this helps/makes sense
cwhitcher69
I appreciate the help guys. I have been all over the global settings and have tried them numerous different ways. I've been up and down the manual for weeks and have used the helix with great success. This FX Effects unit is not reacting the same way. I do not have to back my Helix FX block way back because of feedback this unit is eating up my sound and has horrific feedback through the loop. I'm not a genius but this isn't my first go around with a line 6 multi effects. Any other ideas?
silverhead
It’s possible that you have a hardware fault. I would open a support ticket.
PierM
It's interesting, Im reading lot of stories about the HX Effects Loop, and all of them are potentially related to a signal bleed problem, which can be either caused by wrong code, faulty hardware or defective batch. I'd contact support asap.
