huzzam
Hi everyone, how can i switch my delay (e.g. Vintage Digital) from note sync (e.g. 1/8 notes) to time (e.g. 300ms) via MIDI CC change? For context, I have a Morningstar MC6 and an expression pedal. I want to have my delay sync to 1/8 notes most of the time, but when I hit a switch, i want it to go to time (milliseconds), and be controlled by expression pedal. I can't find any way to make this happen, as the sync/time switch doesn't seem to be mappable. Can't even seem to change it via snapshot... Anything I'm overlooking here? rd2rk
Both Time and NoteSync are easy to setup concurrently with Min/Max Values, but the only way I can see to switch between the two modes is manually. The only solution I can see is to use identical delays with different settings and toggle them. DSP costly, especially if you're using HXS or HXFX. Maybe a good candidate for Ideascale? 1

I guess you are changing tempo and that is why you need to change from note division to milliseconds. Check for an online Delay calculator. Hope this helps/makes sense. The other reason I can think of for wanting to do this is to go from tightly-synced-to-tempo delays to doing delay-time-pitch-bend effects, using a footpedal as the equivalent of reaching down and twisting the Time knob on a pedal. (At least, that's why I'd want to do this....) A delay calculator isn't going to help with that.

Mmm... well all music is time related, always has been, always will be - Beats, note length and seconds or milliseconds, it’s all the same thing presented in different ways. It’s all division of time. As in the example that I gave in my previous post, so to expand on that: 120 BPM gives an 1/8 note delay time of 250ms, and so forth as 1/4 = 500ms and 1/16 = 125ms. 90 BPM gives an 1/8 note delay time of 500ms, and so forth as 1/4 = 1000ms and 1/16 = 250m I have only given examples with whole number divisions, but it works for everything. If the OP knows what BPM his 1/8 note sync is, he can work out what that relates to in milliseconds and enter that instead of the 1/8 division then when he needs to change to 300ms it’s one click of a foot switch, or the sweep of an expression pedal from min to max. Of course manual time manipulation is a whole different thing - time warping. ;-) Hope this helps/makes sense.
