titchyblackcat
Hi I record using a PC. Should I let the PC boot first and then switch on the Helix ? or, should i switch on the Helix first ?
SaschaFranck
Doesn't matter. But it might be a good idea to not start your DAW before the Helix is switched on. Some DAWs still don't seem to like "hot swapping" interfaces under Windows.
PierM
Id be more careful on the quit/shut down/sleep/wakeup procedure, as there are chipsets that are going BSOD when triggering a driver that is calling for a missing ext device. So for example, if you put your DAW in sleep, and you turn off your helix, better to turn ON helix again before wake up the DAW. I'm talking for personal experience and lot of suffering... :D
SaschaFranck
Oh right, sleep mode still isn't something Windows is doing properly, forgot about that (not an issue under macOS almost since decades).
DunedinDragon
Most of the time my PC is always powered up and I just put it to sleep when I'm not going to be using it. I power up my studio equipment (which includes the Helix) separately when needed and turn it off generally when not using it and I've never had any problems doing it this way for years.
