volcanotim
Can I use a Bluetooth adapter like this dongle https://www.amazon.co.uk/TFUFR-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Receiver-Supports/dp/B09Q8X3LP6/ref=sr_1_14?keywords=bluetooth+receiver+usb+b&qid=1679925916&sr=8-14 with an adapter like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/SHANFEILU-Female-Print-Adapter-Converter/dp/B0BPCY7GV6/ref=sr_1_3?crid=135WX749CFACE&keywords=usb+to+usb+b+adapter&qid=1679926945&sprefix=usb+to++usb+b+%2Caps%2C75&sr=8-3 to turn it into USB B type so I can plug it into the USB of my Helix so that I can play backing tracks over Bluetooth from my iPhone? If not what the solution?
SaschaFranck
No, won't work as the Helix is no USB host (which would be needed for that BT plug to work). The solution is using either a plain old audio cable (3.5mm to 6.3mm, TRS) and run it into the aux input or a camera connection kit running into the USB port. In that case, the Helix should become available as a playback device on your iPhone (no warranty, though, I'm not using an iPhone).

If not what the solution? Hi, If you want to have your iPhone/iPad communicate via USB for playing backing tracks etc., you need the Apple Camera Connection Kit. https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/product/MK0W2ZM/A/lightning-to-usb-3-camera-adapter I have used the ACCK for a long time to hook up to my iPad, I also have an IK Multimedia iRig2 and iRig Acoustic Stage to allow me to use GarageBand on the iPad to quickly grab ideas when not in the studio - but that is for sending audio in to the iPad. https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irig2/ https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irigacousticstage/ Hope this helps/makes sense. I’m inclined to just buy them and try it unless anyone can explain why it won’t work and what will?

But let me also tell you: I had a tough time grasping the "concepts" behind things as well at first. You'd need that for power supplement as well (which USB B ports don't deliver). You got the explanation above, though. Your BT plug wouldn't even wake up as there's no bus power running on the Helix' USB port. Seriously, it's pointless to even just try.
volcanotim
Ok I get it now thanks. So apart from a cable solution I guess I could use something like this into the aux and edit each patch to play the aux input HVMLAK Aux Bluetooth Receiver for Car, Mini Bluetooth Aux Adapter v5.3 with Swivel 3.5mm Audio Jack for Hi-Fi Home Stereo Music Streaming, Handsfree Calling, 12 Hours Battery Life, Adjustable Volume https://amzn.eu/d/aTnBMdE

One word - Latency! Here’s one: https://line6.com/support/topic/34109-helix-to-run-bluetooth-headphones/ plus: More: Hope this helps/makes sense. PierM
...it wont work unless you are fine getting a backing track with a 250~300ms latency.
SaschaFranck
No idea what latency has got to do with this. Doesn't really matter when it's all about a backingtrack.

My head was thinking he was going to send to iphone via BT transmitter, while it's exactly the opposite, so latency isn't an issue.

This problem can often arise with similar technology, and I have encountered such difficulties. However, after I read the article about airdrop to macbook a lot became clear to me and I learned a lot of new information. Indeed, it is very important to find quality information to cope with such errors. And fortunately, I found answers to my questions.

Sometimes capturing them on film is just as challenging as buying them. But with https://www.faxvin.com/license-plate-lookup/arizona, a service that lets you check a car's license plate before buying it in Arizona, you can make things a lot easier. It's practical and convenient since all the necessary information is gathered in one place. Hope this helps/makes sense. Thanks a lot! I had the same question
