Used cable out of AMP out. Set global setting to pre cab/IR - I adjust mic on cab, and it changes sound, why?

Ok, so what did I do wrong? The only reason I adjusted the mic on the cab was to prove to myself that the pre cab/IR was working. Apparently, it wasn't, and I am glad I checked. 
 

Having said that, I don't believe anything is wrong with the POD GO at all. So.....what did I forget to do?

How are you monitoring the sound? In other words, are you sure you are hearing ONLY the sound from the Amp Out jack?

Make sure the cab is at the end of the chain.
