rwinking
Sorry if this has been talked about. I actually was on here a couple of weeks ago with the same issue but can't find the thread anymore. The problem is that I can't seem to download the firmware 3.7. Someone recommended waiting a week or ten days and I did. Same issue. Ex Edit is updated but I can't seem to get the firmware on my Helix Rack. It times out. My internet seems ok for everything else but this. Someone mentioned another way to do this and I can't seem to find a thread where it is mentioned. My HX Stomp XL updated but my HX FX would not. Yaurghhhhhh! rick
silverhead
First make a system backup of your Helix Rack using HX Edit. Then download the v3.70 firmware manually. Run Line 6 Updater and choose Install from File. Select the downloaded firmware file. After installation refer to the v3.70 Release Notes and complete the procedures from the firmware installation point.

Honestly quit messing with the HXedit path back in the 2.x somewhere - always a bit hit and miss. Have NEVER had an issue running local update from file. rwinking
I ran an older version of the updater and it asked if I wanted to download the newest one. Sure....I downloaded it but then got this: “Line 6 Updater.pkg” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software
rklasen
Try to download it on a different device, then copy over to your computer. Use the Line 6 Updater app to install.
rwinking
I researched this a little and read something from you Silverhead about how to byppass my security settings but I could not find how to do it for the updater. My options are apps from the app store or app store and identified developers. Neither works. I have the updater downloaded and also the firmware. When I try to open the firmware I get this: There is no application set to open the document “Helix_Floor_v3.70.0_0xd2be32d64.hxf”. If I open the updater I get everything moving along and then I get a black screen saying "Select Device to Update" and then I am stuck again as nothing appears. I guess I am very confused about this whole thing. Am I bypassing HX Edit? I have tried leaving HX Edit off and running my Helix Rack into the USP of my Mac but that does nothing.... rwinking
I must have missed your earlier post while I was writing one. Tomorrow I will go somewhere and try to download it to another mac and then on to a USB drive and then bring it home. I do have it downloaded to this mac but still run into the issue of how to open it so maybe I don't have to download it elsewhere.
rwinking
I noticed that the other day I was able to update my HX FX easily through HX Edit but I pulled out my Stomo XL and it does the same thing as my rack. My computer is a Mac Mini that is only a couple of years old so that should not be an issue. Maybe there are just fewer things on the FX since it doesn't have amps, cabs, etc.

Hi, You appear to be suffering more than necessary to get this update done. Follow this link, read it thoroughly, and follow the instructions given. Take Note: this installation technique described within was for an earlier version of the Firmware. Any references to version numbers should be the very latest available for the new 3.70 Firmware. The method for “Offline” updating is identical. The issue of The Mac “Gatekeeper” security blocker is also covered in this walkthrough. Hope this helps/makes sense.
rwinking
Datacommando, Silverhead and Ricstudio! Wow! Thanks so much for taking the time for me! Still not sure what was going on but this piece answered all of my problems, although the first time I tried it it got hung up. I was able to do my rack, LT and XLStomp all this afternoon. I copied the thing and put it in my Helix Update file as I am sure I have not seen the last of this stuff and it will come in handy next update. I can't wait to try all of the new toys out. It seems that the issue was me signing in when I did not need to for the offline mode. EVerything got backed up and I will try each out before my next gigs. Thanks again.....

Happy to assist - and even though we are in 2023 not everyone has a bulletproof internet connection and online updates can still be troublesome. At least we have the option of a “local install”, and luckily we are not on dial up modems. Have fun with the new stuff.
