manyasone
Hi, I've just tried to update my Helix LT via the HX Edit Software. Beforehand I had update HX Edit to Version 3.7, as suggested in the software upgrade guide. During the firmare update process I got a Windows bluescreen, and the message "Update failed, please reboot and try again" on my Helix display (see attached screenshots). Now I'm just getting a boot failiure on the Helix and a "No device connected" message on the bottom in HX Edit. On startup, HX edit tries to connect, though, and on the title bar it says "HX Edit - Helix LT", so the device seems to get recognized but fails to connect. I've tried rebooting both my pc and the Helix multiple times and also tried connecting to different USB ports. In the past, I have never had any issues with updates or the USB connectivity, so now I'm kind of clueless. I'll be thankful for any help, Simon

SaschaFranck
Did you try using the Line 6 Updater?

When you have a hardware unit in a “failed state” it will not reconnect to your device by using HX Edit. Follow this link, read it thoroughly, and follow the instructions given by @SaschaFranck. Take Note: this installation technique described within was for an earlier version of the Firmware. Any references to version numbers should be the very latest available for the new 3.70 Firmware. The method for “Offline” updating is identical. Hope this helps/makes sense.
manyasone
Thanks @datacommando! With the offline update I got it working again. I had tried the Line6 Updater before, but not in offline mode. I had some problems downloading the firmware though - in Firefox, the download doesn't start, but a semi-empty new page opens. In Chrome I was able to download the file and the update went smoothly.

Hi, Good to know you have a fully functional updated Helix LT - enjoy! Regarding Firefox, I would think that it’s file handling capabilities are much like they are on my Mac, where it’s known to sometimes mess up downloads. If I recall correctly, you can change the preferences for how it handles downloaded files. The best way is to have it download to a folder that you have specified, otherwise it will sometimes try to unzip the files before the transfer is complete. Have fun! SaschaFranck
Yeah, quite unfortunately Firefox ocassionally tries to open files that it should rather download (even if you told it to at least ask before doing anything). Usually rightclick "save target as" helps, but sometimes that's not available.
