How connect backing track

Good evening
I would like to connect my smartphone to the Helix to play backing tracks or Spotify songs at the same time. I've tried using the USB port on the Helix but it doesn't work. I should point out that the pod is then plugged into my speaker.
I don't use the pod as an audio interface to a computer. Have you tested this? Is it possible?
Thanks in advance for your feedback

Regards

A POD is not a SMARTPHONE. The device needs to be a USB HOST for it to work. Smartphones are computers, but may not work as USB HOSTs.

IOW, the devil is in the DETAILS.

I connected my iPhone to the USB port on my Helix and Helix Outs to powered speakers and it works fine.

I use an Android smartphone. Maybe the problem comes from there too?

Hi,

I would guess that the problem is with your Android phone rather than the Helix.

See this info from way back.

I'm sorry, I completely misunderstood your post.

As the links provided by @datacommandoindicate, Androids are not a good fit for your needs.

After researching, I bought my first iOS device - an i5 - back in 2013 specifically for it's audio capabilities.

You might check out Craigslist/eBay for an older iPad. I got an Air2 for $99 and it works great for everything - Catalyst Edit, Amp Sims, DAWs, drum machines, Spotify/YT to Helix etc. Simple, cheap USB B to Lightning cable connection. The bigger screen is also REALLY nice!

Salut,

Thank you very much for all these informations. I'll try with my iPad or my Android smartphone via the send/return connector.

Ok perfect. Thank you

Hi,

The problem with connecting from your phone or iPad using the 3mm headphone output to the Return jack socket on the Helix is that you need to patch the return onto a path that goes direct to the output of Helix without any fx blocks on it.

You need to have no effects processing on the backing track playback.

Hope this helps/makes sense.

Bonjour,

Yes. I'll try also with USB connexion with iPad or Macboopro.. regards.

Hi,

Ah, if you have a MacBook Pro is is very simple - just connect it to your Helix with the USB cable. The Helix is class complient for use with Apple Mac computers and should show up as an Output Device from your Menu bar. You can play tracks from your Music (iTunes) app, Spotify etc.

For the iPad you may need to use the Apple Camera Connection Kit. (ACCK)

If you have GarageBand you can also use your Helix to Record your guitar.

Hope this helps/makes sense.

Salut,
