Strange problem connecting HX Stomp to a Hotone Nano Legacy mini-amp??

This is very odd...when I connect my HX Stomp to my Hotone Siva Boogie mini-amp, I get no sound at all??
This is my signal chain:
Guitar > (mono In) HX Stomp (mono Out) > (Input) Hotone amp > Speaker.
Pretty basic stuff. If I keep the same exact signal chain and just replace the HX Stomp with any random FX pedal, it works fine!?

As far as HX Stomp settings, they're the same exact settings I use successfully with my Seymour Duncan Power Stage 170.
All I did is replace the Power Stage 170 with Hotone amp so...what could be wrong??
Thx in advance!

Set it up like this:

  • guitar -> cable -> HX Stomp Input L/Mono
  • HX Stomp Output L/Mono -> cable -> Hotone Input

If you don't power the HX Stomp it is bypassed and you should get the raw guitar sound. Do you?

If you then power the HX Stomp does the sound mute after booting?

Hi,

From the description of your set up, the amps and cabs in your HX Stomp are not being used.

Have tried to patch your HX Stomp by using the 4CM with FX Loop of the Hotone amp?

Yes! Exactly. With HX Stomp off, I hear the guitar, when I power the HX Stomp, there's no sound.
So...sounds like you were expecting that behaviour. Do you therefore have an explanation as to why?
Thx

I don't understand what you are saying? Why aren't they being used? What makes you say that?
4CM...I first want to understand why this basic setup isn't working since it should work (as I wrote, it works fine with my Power Stage 170 so...?

This tells us that the cabling is correct.

We go step by step.

  • Set Global Settings -> Preferences -> Bypass Type to DSP
  • Press the Upper Knob and Lower Knob together to DSP bypass HX Stomp. The display will read “DSP bypass! Press any switch.”
  • Turn up the VOLUME knob.

You should now hear the guitar again. Do you?

Yes I do but...how does this help? I still can't get any of the HX Stomp sound processing to my Hotone amp which is the point of this thread so...?
One odd thing I notice is that there is a considerable drop in volume when using the DSP Bypass as opposed to the Analog so I set it back to Analog.

EDIT: I now realize that the drop of volume with the DSP Bypass was due to the fact the the HX Stomp's volume knob still controls the output so raising it solved the issue.

Now we know that it's not defective.

The volume drop in DSP bypass mode can have multiple causes:

  • input block -> In-Z not 1MOhm or Auto
  • input block -> Gtr Pad not Off
  • output block -> Level not 0dB
  • Global EQ
  • VOLUME knob not full

Ok thx bu I'm not sure any of those suggestions would help because, don't lose track of the fact that everything works as expected with EXACTLY the same HX Stomp settings when connected to the Power Stage 170!?
This is such a weird problem...I really don't get it
